"What was your childhood like...?"
"Well....not much, just....." he chuckled nervously "Boring and lame....." His expression tells Jane that she should drop the topic,
"Heh.....mine was full of embarrassments and puns." She giggled, trying to brush the bad thoughts away. But nothing gets past Matt, he gave her a reassuring smile.
"Nevermind the past, mind the future, and mind what's happening now..." He kissed her on the forehead. Jane smiled as he did, blushing deeply.
"Promise me....." He said, "Promise me, you won't ever....ever leave me." He wrapped his arms around her.
"To-bia honest with you, I hate making promises....." She replied while gazing into his eyes. "But, I'll try my best to keep this one promise."
Matt smiled and kissed her on the mouth. "Since you've made your promise....I'll make mine." He got down to one knee and looked up to her. "I, Matt.....swear to keep and protect my words......as I swear and promise to keep you, and your family safe."
Jane giggled. "Is this a proposal?"
"Sort of....yeah." He stood up and held her hands. "It's my promise to you, and yours to mine."
"I could kiss you....if I had lips. Or if I'm ever human..."
"Human....Monster.....it doesn't matter. As long as you're you, the Jane I fell and am now falling in love with, I'll love you no matter what......"
"No matter what....?"
"No matter what."
