Lola's POV :

"Dylan!," I shouted as I looked at my friend of many years .

"Lacey ! After all these years , it's you!," he said with a tint of happiness .

"God! I've missed you!"

"Of course you did ," he said in a usual cool and carefree manner .

"I see the years haven't tinted your heart . You haven't changed a bit ," I said throwing him the sweetest smile I had.

It was true. The years hadn't changed him one bit . He was still as he was 2 years ago .
I had lost all contact with him when he moved to a hospital in Atlanta for extra service , which was a great service on his part but I did feel sad at the time .
In the midst,  I had lost my phone around that time and with my not so good economic condition , there was nothing I could do  and thus , he didn't know my new number and I didn't know his . And me being the anti-social me didn't have a what do you call it ? Um fakebook or frizz book or something ? I didn't have that sorta thing so....yeah...
All I had left of him was in pictures in my scrapbook and those were not even the pretty pics.

"You haven't changed too Lace. Always so posh and proper like how my grans speaks  ," Dylan said with his crescent eye smile , which I almost fell for back in those days . Keyword - almost .

"Ha?," I asked confused .

"Ha?," he said mockingly mimicking me ,"Your english lil girl  ."

I remember back in those days , Dylan used to call me lil girl ,cuz I was just right about as tall as his collarbone and he was just 2 years older than I was . But hey, I'm not short . It's just that he's just so so just tall , ok? 5.4 is not short ! Hmph! Maybe but still!He's just had overproduction of growth hormones ok!

We had met in summer 17 years ago , when I went for summer camp .
I was a petite little girl while he was , for his age, rather tall .
We played ball together and became friends easily .

My first, very first friend. I am actually , quiet, in company and tend to anti -socialise .
But I too have my fair amount of friends . 5 actually .
I've just 5 friends - Dylan ; Beth ; Summer, who's back at home ; Josh , who's also a doc and  Jared ,who's also a doc. The people I talk to sometimes at my work , I just consider them as my workmates . I mean I can't just go shoulder on shoulder and sing "Crazy" with em can I ? Yep , if you get it haha.

"How's Leon doing ?," Dylan asked .
"Quite well . He's still in collage ," I answered . Leon is my brother , younger by a year . And it seems Dylan still remembers him. They didn't get along well actually  for your info . Haha

"Okay , it's getting quite late ,"he said taking a glance at his watch ," See you tomorrow lil girl . Good night ."
" Night Dylan ."

Maybe fate's reopening my chapter of joy ? Or...Maybe not , that cruel thingy has never been on my side humph!
First , I'm stuck in some forest and here I meet a long lost friend .
Ineresting, right? Very interesting.

Dismissing my thoughts,I  quickly grabbed some bread I had bought on my way here and poured myself a glass of milk .
Maybe it's too late to call Leon now since he had class in the morning .
I'll just give him a call on my way to work tomorrow,  I thought .

I rang my brother .
"God damn you! Why didn't you call?!," Leon shouted through the other line .
"Figured you'd be asleep ," I said with a smile ," Ya know , Leon, my schedule says I'd be meeting the directors and the Chairman today . I'm kinda nervous ."

"Eh, nervous and Lacey don't rhyme . Go nail them , sis . And I'm thinking the directors and chairman are old hags . Ya know , cuz such a prominent hospital wouldn't have young ones .
I'm sure you'd charm them with your smile ," he said teasingly .

I just laughed at his comment .
"I got to go , Leon . But I promise I'd call after work . Bye , love ,"I said .
I cut the line after hearing him bid me bye .

It was an extraordinarily grand and pleasant morning .
To call it only beautiful would be an underestimation .
I hadn't notice yesterday , but the birds were singing a lifetime of a song , making me smile through my ears .
It was sunny but with a little mist here and there .
It's my first day of work here .

"Good morning , Lacey, " a deep masculine voice greeted me .
I turned around to face Mr.Edwards.
"Good morning Mr.Edwards ,"I returned the greeting .
Actually, I wasn't sure where to put him.
Clearly, it couldn't be said that we were strangers .
Nor was I sure we could be addressed as friends .
Maybe someone I know would be his definition .

"Eh, what've I told you about making me feel old by Mr.Edwards? You can address me by my first name Lacey ," Mr.Edwards said with a thoughtful smile .
I just gave him a meek smile and excused myself.

Taking directions from the register , I went directly to my supervisor's office .
I knocked .
"Come in ," an authorative voice called.

"Good morning , sir. I've just been transferred here ," I said wondering if he'd know of me .

"Oh, I heard about two transfers . You the intern or the head ?," he asked me . To my knowledge it'd be three transfers including Dylan .. but he says otherwise.
This man here , if I were honest , had sea blue eyes , tan skin , black hair . Summing up , he's handsome .
To hell with all the man here . In the place  I used to work before the transfer , I'd shine cuz the men  were outdated in looks and height. Well, he looked too young to be my supervisor .
Now, it looks like I'm outdated in looks and just a tiny figure before them . Not to add, an old hag.

"I'd be the head , sir ," I told him .

"Oh, hello there Miss.Lacey Evangeline or was that Lola?," he asked .

"It's actually Lola Lacey Evangeline,  sir ,"I answered.

"Oh Ms.Evangeline,  I'm Anthony Garner . But Anthony would do. Nice to finally meet you, although I was expecting someone older ," he stated with amusement clearly on his features . Finally ?..hm... I thought.

"Lacey or Lola would do , Mr.Garner ," I said throwing him a smile .

"Hmm... now talking about this , Lola , it's 10 now," he said looking at his watch ," it  must be in your schedule and you must know we're going to meet the officials in about ten minutes ."

"Oh yes, sir . I'm very well aware of the fact ."

Go get them , Lacey ! I thought to myself .

As Mr.Garner and I went to the board room for my introduction, 
I was shocked to see Mr.Edwards seated and looking intently at me with the ghost of a smile on his lips .

But, that wasn't as shocking as this .
On the table with the Chairman tab , I looked up to see the most handsome man I've seen in my life .
He had  black souless eyes looking directly at me .
With brunette hair and fair-tan skin , dressed in a blue silk suit which clearly gave off his bulky muscles ,
this man looked so much like an angel who had fallen down from the sky.
But something about his aura, as I couldn't place what, gave away a scream of danger and authority .

Oh, Leon ! How I'd love to tell you that we were so wrong about the Chairman being an old hag .
How I'd happily tell you he's the handsomest man on the earth !
