Today was my first day of eleventh grade. To other people it was important but to me it was just a regular first day of school. One more year of school until I'm legal and I get to leave my grandmothers house and I could go out and travel around the world with my mother and visit my father in jail. These are my only two aspirations in my life. Just to be cared for and loved by my parents...my grandmother claims that they don't care about me and they're never coming back. Yeah, okay. You can say I'm in denial but I'm not. I know my parents love me.
"Bahja why are you not getting dressed? The bus comes in thirty-five minutes." My grandmother nagged.
"Okay grandma! damn." I mumbled the last part.
"Bahja Shamoni Rodriguez I dare you to cuss at me again! I'll lay you out on that floor!" She said wobbling inside my room. I groaned and got off my pink zebra striped quilt. I made my way into my bathroom and locked the door behind me. I had my bathroom painted pink and white with little decorations of my pink piano and my favorite teddy bear Pinky. I kind of have an addiction to pink...that's why my grandma calls me Pinky In the brain sometimes. I stripped out of my pink pajamas and placed them neatly on the counter next to the sink. Should I wear my hair curly or flat iron it? Hmm. I'll just wear it wet and curly. I opened the shower door (we had one of those tall glass ones with kind of a granite looking floor) and got in. I turned the handle to warm water since I didn't like pipping hot water or freezing cold water. Being the person I am I had suave honey liquid soap instead of just a bar of soap. The water hit my skin instantly soothing my nerves. I washed my body and then began shampooing my hair with my favorite shampoo in the whole wide world. When I was finished showering and washing my hair I got out and wrapped my pink towel around my body. I picked up my after shower materials that consists of coco butter, baby oil, deodorant, and Pink Chiffon body spray. Before walking into my bedroom I observed my lion mane in the mirror. I didn't feel like taming it so I ignored it and sat my stuff down on the floor near my bed. I began putting on my lotion, baby oil, deodorant, and Pink Chiffon body spray. I put my robe on and walked inside my walk-in closet. I already had put my undergarments and socks on.
"Eh no. Nah. Nope." I said searching through my shirts. I always use temperature, mood, and how cute it is from 1-10 as my guide for clothing. I finally found a shirt at the end of my jungle. It was a seasame muscle tee from Forever 21. Now to find a pear of jeans and some shoes.
"These are cute." I talked to myself. I was looking at some black jeans and some black doc martins. Something else caught my eye. It was a long sleeved blue and black plaid shirt. I could tie this around my waist and it would be extra cute. I threw on my jeans and pulled my shirt over my head big head. I laced up my doc martins and went back in my closet to find a beanie. I found the perfect one. It was black with a blue diamond logo on it. I put it on and then looked in the mirror on my pink wall. I needed accessories.
"Bahja you have thirteen minutes! you haven't even eaten the breakfast I made yet." My grandmother yelled upstairs.
"I'm coming grandma! all I have to do now is brush my teeth and find some accessories." I yelled back. I rushed inside the bathroom and began brushing my teeth and using mouthwash. I raced back inside my room and put on my heart with wings necklace. I looked through my earring box for some earrings. I found some plastic blue rose earrings and put them in my ears while I walked down the stairs. My grandmother handed me my plate and I scarfed it down. It was bacon, grits, eggs, and cut up blueberry pancakes. After I was done eating I grabbed my book bag and raced to the bus stop. No one there but the bus sign. The bus pulled up next to the curb and opened the doors. I went up the steps and sat in the first seat. As the bus was about the pull off I saw a girl running to catch up.
"That girl is trying to get on the bus! stop!" I suddenly said. The bus driver looked confused but then saw the girl and stopped the bus. She opened the doors and the girl caught up. She walked up the stairs breathless and tired.
"T-thank you." The girl breathed in and out, looking at the bus driver.
"Don't thank me. Thank that girl behind me she saw you." The bus driver pointed to me. I shyly slumped in my seat. The girl took a seat next to me.
"Hi I'm Zonnique Pullins." She put her hand out to shake. I shook it awkwardly and slumped back in my seat. She looked at me weirdly.
"And you are...?" Zonnique trailed off.
"Oh I'm sorry I'm Bahja. Bahja Rodriguez." I said sitting up.
"Nice ta meet ya Bahja Rodriguez." Zonnique smiled showing off her dimples.
"You too Zonnique Pullins." I gave a friendly smile back.
"I like your hair." She complimented.
"I like yours too. It fits your personality and your face." I examined her from hair to face.
"Thank you. So what grade are you in?" Zonnique sat down her camouflage backpack.
"Eleventh grade now what about you?" I turned to face her all the way.
"Same grade as you." She giggled.
"What's your favorite color?" I laughed a little too.
"Red. Yours?" Zonnique asked.
"Pink." I pulled on my hair.
The rest of the day me and Zonnique hung out and sat together since we found out we had all the same classes. It was actually fun to have a friend. I tapped on my C key and then began playing a beautiful song. These were my feelings. I loved my first day of school. I made my first friend.
