Hey people! Stella here! I just want to say something: Liz's necklace will entangle Artemis's fate with the People even more than he expect's.: Hehehehehe *Walks away chuckling to self.* Enjoy!!!!!
The plane ride seemed like it was taking too long. I was sitting next to Butler, as he didn't trust me next to Artemis. I could understand that. If I was next to Artemis, I would probably try to kill him. . .
"Stella! Wake up, Artemis needs to talk to you." Butler said in my ear. I rubbed my eyes and yawned. Butler stood and switched seats with Artemis, who was sittting nexts to a dreaming Birch. Artemis sat down and wiped invisible dust off his suit. He took a deep breath and turned towards me.
"Can you show me your necklace? I would like to examine it." He asked. I nodded.
"But I'm not taking it off my neck. I don't trust anyone with it, especially you." I told him. He smirked and nodded.
"I can understand that. Most people do not trust me for a number of reasons." He said. I took the triangle from under my shirt and placed it in his hands. He just sat there, looking at it, as if memorising every detail. His eyes widened and he gasped.
"I know this! In gnomish, this is the letter F! But what does it stand for? It cant stand for Fowl. . . Could it?" He asked. I shrugged.
"Why would my grandmother give me a necklace with the letter F on it? She was just a frail old woman. Plus, you said she wasn't even my real grandmother. So what does it mean? That you are destined to be involved with the People?" I asked. I froze. A memory sparked in my mind.
I was laying on a steel table, Birch at my side. This was this memory again. Why am I having the same memory again? Someone walked through a door in front of us. Oh, it's like an add on!
"Birch, play dead, like we learned. Don't let them do anything to you." I whispered. She nodded. We both took deep breaths and laid there. He looked dead but if you felt our pulse, you would barley feel it. In one more minute, you wouldn't be able to feel a thing.
Someone put two fingers on my neck and swore. Same with Birch.
"Boss! We got a problem! I think they dead! They ain't movin and they ain't breathin. What should we do?" A gruff voice asked.
"What do you mean?! They can't be dead!" A shrill voice screamed. "What did you do to them?" I felt someone try to find my pulse again. The 'boss' put a hand under my chin and moved my face. She must be checking for any sign that I'm alive. I stayed still. Boss shrieked and the hand disappeared.
"Get them out of here! I don't want dead bodies stinking up my lab!" Boss yelled. I felt myself being unstaped from the table. I was being lifted lifted and carried. Perfect, my plan was working. The person who was carring me took a deep breath and threw me into a dumpster. I tensed for Birch. She hit me with a thud. A door closed and silence took over.
"Is it over?" Birch whispered. I opened my eyes and Birch picked herself off of me. I nodded and she grinned.
"We need to get out of here. If this 'boss' is smart, she has cameras. They might be heading back." I told her. We climbed out and looked around. We where in an ally. As we started running for the street, the back door burst open. We ran faster, but not fast enough.
I felt a dart pierse my shoulder and I fell to the ground, Birch following. "Birch." I said. "It's not over." With that, I fell to unconcusness.
I gasped and opened my eyes. Artemis's concerned face was inches from mine. He sighed and turned to Butler. He said something in his ear and turned back to me.
"Tell me." He demanded. "What happened? I must know!" He looked excited. I reached to my shoulder and held where I had been shot. It felt so real. It felt like I had been shot a minute ago. Meaning it hurt like hell. I grit my teeth and clenched the fist that wasn't holding my shoulder. Artemis looked at my shoulder and narrowed his eyes.
"What did you do?" He asked. I just shook my head, not trusting my voice. I might start crying or something. I would never cry in front of Artemis. Never. Artemis slowly reached out and moved my hand away. He motioned for me to turn away so he could look. I did so. I heard Artemis gasp and I grew worried.
"Stella, I need you to tell me what happened in that memory. I nodded and told him. He stayed silent and I couldn't see his face. I felt him get up and someone else sat down. Butler. I turned towards him and tried to read his expression. Blank. Wonderful. He lead me to the tiny bathroom and grabbed some toilet paper. Stopping an attendant on the way.
"I could use some bandages and some anti-biotic. My little cousin here has a cut on her shoulder that started bleeding." He told her. She nodded and left in a hurry. "Stella, stay here. I will go and get you a new shirt." He ordered. I nodded and he went back to our seats. He grabbed a shirt and came back. I grabbed it and went into the bathroom. I stripped my old shirt and turned around.
I cranked my neck to look in the mirror at my shoulder. I gasped at it. There was a circle about one inch in diameter. It was bleeding too. Wonderful! There was a knock on the door.
"Cover yourself, before you get dressed, wrap your shoulder in this." Butler told me. He opened the door and I held my shirt in front of myself. Butler handed me that bandage and shut the door quickly. I wrapped my shoulder and put on the shirt. It stung, badly. I came out of the bathroom and went back to my seat, Butler following. I sat down with a sigh.
"How much longer until we get to Ireland?" The now awake Birch asked.
"About an hour." Artemis answered.
"Can Butler and I switch seats? I want to be by Stella." Birch asked. Artemis nodded and Birch was by my side. I looked at Artemis, who was sitting with his hands resting on his lap, fingers intwinded. He closed his eyes and sat unmoving. I looked back to Birch.
"So, what happened?" She whispered. I explained my memory to her. She looked terrified at it. "How did a memory do this to you?" She asked. I shugged and regretted it. That hurt.
"I have no idea. Something is happening, I know that. I'm getting memories more and more. What about you?" I asked. She nodded and looked back at Artemis, looking back to me, she explained her dream. "But it wasn't a dream! It was a memory in disguise." I laughed quietly and shook my head.
"This day can not get worse!" I mumbled. Oh how I was wrong.
