Chapter 16:

“Hey, baby.” I has hearing a voice mail Chres left me. “Ugh…I don’t know how many times I have to tell you…” He sighed and I could hear that he was crying “But Estephany, baby I love you with ALL my heart. You know I would NEVER hurt you…” He sniffled. My vision was getting blurry; I had tears in my eyes. “EJ once you get this message, come to my house…Please!!” The voicemail ended.

It was three in the morning; I got up from bed quietly because Alexis was sleeping. I put on the baggy sweatshirt of Chres, it smelled just like him. So I decided to go cheek up on him.

I knocked on the door a couple of times and he wouldn’t answer, I opened the door. I went into the room and I saw the most shocking thing ever…

“EJ!” Chres yelled of joy from the bed. Where he was with Melanie doing it. “This is not what it looks like” He sighed deeply not knowing what to do next”

“I thought you said you broke up with her sorry ass!” Melanie was naked but thank God I couldn’t see her because she was under the sheets. Just all her clothes on the floor.

“You Promised” I sniffled. I really truly still love Chres but I was in shock. “…What is she doing here…Roc” I added. It was killing me, but how could he.

“No…Baby don’t call me by that” He sniffled too. He got up from the bed, with shorts on. He came up close to me and tried to hug me but I pushed him away.

“No, Roc” I couldn’t speak, like when you have that big lump in your throat.

“Baby” He came close and grabbed my hand. “But if you leave me, I’m going to miss you, your heart,” Chres put his hand on my chest. Then his hands crept up to my lips “your lips, and especially YOU!”  He gave me a hug but I pushed him away. Then I realize that he had tears in his eyes, and one went down his cheek. I couldn’t help but wipe it off his cheek like he did it to me.

“I’m sorry” I sighed at Chres “But…all I told you was that I needed a couple of days, to get my mind wrapped around this. I still LOVE you…Roc but I just can’t.” I tried waking away, but he got a grip of my hand.

“Please don’t leave EJ,” he gently said “Melanie doesn’t mean ANYTHING, YOU mean the world to me!” Chres put his hand on my cheek, I turned to my left. He still had his hand on my cheek.

“I love you…Roc. But I just have to think. Because you’re getting me confused” I confessed. A couple of tears left me, and I tilted my head down. “I have to go Roc” I stood there so he would let me go because he still had his arm grip on me.

“Please, EJ don’t call me Roc…” he sniffled. “Please stay!”

“I’m sorry” I whispered. He let go of me and left the room.

I stayed in the hallway, sitting on the ground and by back toward a wall. My legs were pulled up to my chest and I was crying. The pain felt AWFUL.

“Are you okay Estephany?” said a gentle voice in front of me.

“Um…yeah” I lied wiping away my tears. I looked up and it was Jose. I knew him; he was a year older than me. But in high school he moved, but I guess he moved here or something.

“No you’re not.” He still had his gentle voice. “What happened?” He was now sitting right next to me. Jose put his arm around me; I leaned my head on his shoulder. And told him everything that happened, and why I was crying. “Well I’m sorry, EJ.” He confessed.

“It’s fine” I lied again. “I have to go Jose.” I got up to go to Alexis’s room.

“Why, you leaving?” Jose asked getting up. He wasn’t that bad looking; he wasn’t all worked out, like Chres. He had glasses and was kind of chubby. But I didn’t care for Jose only as a friend.

“Look Jose I just have to go, okay” I snapped. I didn’t mean to because he was being so nice but right now I wasn’t on the best mood.

“Fine…but promise to call me?” He was taking out his phone.

“Sure whatever.” I answered. I gave him my number and he gave me his.

Once I got to Alexis’s room she was still sleeping, so I decided to call. The boys, even Prodigy. I wanted to call Prodigy first by skype. It took a couple minutes till he answered. But he didn’t sound sleepy.

“Hey EJ?” He questioned. I rolled my eyes dramatically, I put my finger up to my lips meaning to be quiet, and he nodded yes after showing him Alexis asleep.

“So what you doing?” I asked. Trying to smooth my hair down.

“Nothing still upset…you know I was cheating on Alexis but not for what you guys think, right?” He confessed. I looked puzzled.

“What do you mean?” I asked. I looked real quick at Alexis who was still sleeping.

“I mean, yes my ex texted me but, she has been doing that for the past couple of weeks, after I broke up with her, for Alexis.” He replied. I somehow now knew he might be telling the truth.

“But…” I didn’t know what to say next.

“Look, I understand Alexis doesn’t want to look, or even talk to me.” Prodigy admitted. “So I understand that she wants nothing to do with me, it will hurt for a while. But I need to put up with it. Because the ones you love, you need to let them be happy. Even if it means you’re not.” He sniffled a little in the webcam, but I could tell that he was trying to hold it from me.

I smiled at Prod. “Your so nerdy” I teased. “Nah I’m just kidding Prod!” I admitted.

“So what’s up with you?” He asked. I guess it was his turn to ask and my turn to confess.

“Long story!” I told him. Prod gave me that fatherly look saying tell-me-now. “Fine, I’ll tell you!” I rolled my eyes dramatically, then giggled. It made me smile a little more.

Once I told him everything, he looked up at the webcam.

“Look EJ, can I tell you something?” He questioned. I looked at him and nodded. “When you and Roc were together. All he ever talked about was YOU. Prince, Ray, and I never seen him like that. Yes, he’s the younger one of the group EJ, but we can tell he loves you with all his heart.” I told me, I knew it was true but just because Chres was a year older than me didn’t mean he could still take over me.

“I know, I love him to Prod” I felt like tears were going to come out. “I-I’m just disappointed that’s all” I sincerely said.

“I understand, But if you want I can talk to Roc about why he’s doing shit, and I’ll tell you. Does that sound fair?” Prodigy asked. I smiled real big.

“Yes, please.” I pleaded. I looked into the camera realizing that Prodigy was in a hotel room. “Where are you?” I asked.

“Oh, yeah forgot to tell you I’m here in the hotel. Want to come over for a while?” He asked curiously.

“Sure, give me the room number!” I tried to sound excited, because I didn’t want to wake up Alexis.

He gave me the room number, and his room was down the hall. I knocked on the door and he opened the door right away.
