Rose's POV

Halloween was coming up. While the Great Hall full of decorations, outside the air was a breezy chill and the trees an orangey red.

"Which witch or wizard created the spell Aguamenti?" I asked, scanning the Hogwarts, A History book in front of me.

     Silence.

"Okay fine, I'll give you a hint. Her name starts with T."

     Still silence.

"Scorpius?" I turned around and saw Scorpius lying horizontal on the bench, his hands under his head as he stared at the sky.

"Earth to Scorpius," I called impatiently, snapping my fingers in front of his face.

"Rose, have you seen the stars lately?"

The question caught me by surprise and I couldn't help but stare at him, "Are you okay?" I asked, one eyebrow drawn.

"I'm fine," He answered, his eyes never leaving the sky.

"Good," I turned back to my book. "As I was saying -"

I felt a hand gently tug on my shoulder and almost jumped in surprise. Scorpius pulled me back on the bench.

"Scorpius!" I scolded, my back hitting the bench. I tried to hit him but he was a bench higher.

     "Look up," He ordered.

     "You're not my -"

     "Look.  Up."

Just to shut him up, I looked at the sky. It was shaded with many types of blues with bursts of stars encrusted in every corner. Some of them were big, others were small, but they all winked just as bright.

For a moment, I was lost in the painting, swimming through the ocean of stars. After a while Scorpius spoke, "What grade did you get for Divination last year?"

"A," I said, scowling at the thought. "It's so unfair. I did every assignment and answered all the questions right!"

     "I'm sure you did."

"Seriously. I think Trelawney is actually trying to fail me," I grumbled. "And every time I confront her she mumbles something about my Mother."

     "Why?"

"Like I would know!" I swung my arms put in front of me. "Like, what in the name of Dumbledore did I do wrong?!"

We stared up at the stars again.

"Are you still doing Divination this year?" He asked.

"No," I answered. "I'm dropping out."

"Shame. I heard this year they're gonna teach us to read the stars," Scorpius said. "It's very important to know what fate the stars hold for you."
