*Current Time*

I lifted the white dress off the ground as my barefeet hit the cement. I could hear the guards, my mother, and of course my grandmother calling my name, that wasn't going to stop me. Only 1 more minute. I begged the moon to emerge from it's layers of clouds. Almost, as if obeying my command, the full moon broke through the clouds shining brightly on me. I watched as my body dissapeared into blackness until I was nothing but a shadow in the darkness, the white dress fell onto a pile on the floor, topped by the diamond tiara. I watched as the guards approached where I was standing, now examining the heap of dress on the floor.

I watched as my mother fell to her knees, clutching the white fabric in her hands as tears poured from her eyes. My grandmother approached not long after, her hand covering her mouth as soon as she saw  the tiara. Her frail hand rested on my mothers shoulder, comforting her.

"She's gone..." Small sobs escabed my mother's mouth as she picked up the tiara.

"Acacia..." My name slipped my grandmothers lips in a whisper.

Eventually my mother was led away by the guards, but my grandmother had stayed, still holding the tiara tightly in her hands. She slowly sat down, the dress lay in front of her.

"Oh, Acacia..." I could see one, single tear fall from her eye. I watched as it fell off her cheek and onto the dress.

I couldn't watch anymore.

I slipped away, quietly.

Like a shadow.

Of course, that's what I am.

A shadow.
