Sehun clutched his books to his chest and hobbled through the crowded hallways of the high school. After Baekhyun had left, he had tried to sleep and his bruises had kept him up all night...well not just his bruises. The only person he could think about was Baekhyun...that boy gave him really conflicted feelings. He told him not to be a stranger but what did that mean? Say hi to him in the halls or sit with him at lunch? Get closer to him or just stay acquainted?
Lost in his own thoughts, he didn't realize a crowd had gathered in front of him and he ran into the girl closest to him.
"Watch it! she hissed.
He bowed awkwardly and slid out of the way, trying to see what everyone was looking at. Just down the hall, Sehun could see the top of Baekhyun's head. He was accepting gifts from the girls and boys that surrounded him but something was wrong.
"Ah oppa!" a girl closer to the front called out, "How did that happen?"
Baekhyun lifted his head and Sehun got a better look at his face. His left cheek was bruised and three marks that look suspiciously like nail imprints were patterned on his neck. Sehun made eye contact with him and Baekhyun waved. All the students heads whipped towards Sehun and he flinched at their expressions.
Baekhyun began making his way towards Sehun and the students parted like the red sea, watching Baekhyun with hawk eyes.
"I'm going to lunch with my friend Sehun," he smiled and patted his shoulder, "Yesterday he and I were beat up by Taeyong, Jaehyun and Kim." he pointed to each of the accused and they gaped at him.
"Ask them about the details." And with that he walked off, taking Sehun with him.
As the crowd erupted into chaos Sehun stared down at Baekhyun, surprised, "Baekhyun that was--"
"A lie?" he smiled, "I can't tell them the real reason I got these." he pointed to the small marks on his neck and his smile faltered.
Sehun was extremely curious as to the real reasons of his bruises, but he kept his mouth shut and nodded.
"Eat lunch with me?" Baekhyun grinned mischievously, "I have the perfect spot."
"A-ah," he cleaned his glasses nervously and adjusted his backpack. "I-if you want me too."
"Of course silly, didn't I tell you not to be a stranger?"
Sehun smiled slightly and shook the hair out of his eyes.
~~~
It turns out Baekhyun's perfect spot really was perfect. Just on the edge of the campus under a huge oak tree that provided lots of shade and quiet from the usual chatter of the lunchroom.
"Wow this is beautiful." Sehun breathed and Baekhyun pulled them both down at the base of the tree.
"Yeah...I really like this spot, it's peaceful."
Sehun pulled out his lunch and Baekhyun did the same. Baekhyun munched on rice triangles while Sehun bit into his mothers hand made kimchi cakes.
"What's that?" Baekhyun studied the other boys kimichi Cake, amazed. Sehun almost laughed at the wonderment on his face and offered him a cake.
"It's my mom's special recipe, you've never had a kimichi cake before?"
Baekhyun sighed, "My parents put me on diets alot," he bit into the cake and his eyes lit up.
"Wah...this is so amazing Sehun!"
This time Sehun laughed a little at him, "They're okay."
Baekhyun swallowed and leaned closer to Sehun putting one hand on his knee and the other on his shoulder. "Please," he cried over dramatically, "Ask your mom if I can have her recipe these are the best things I've ever tasted!"
Sehun blushed at the skinship and cleared his throat, looking away from Baekhyun's sparkling brown eyes, "S-sure. I'll ask."
Baekhyun settled back into his original spot and continued eating his lunch, a smirk on his face.
"Seriously though, these are amazing."
"You could come over sometime if you want and we can make them." the words spilled out before he could stop them and he looked away, embarrassed.
Baekhyun was silent for a few seconds and Sehun mentally cursed himself. "U-uh if you don't want too--"
"Actually that would be amazing."
Sehun tried not to let the surprise show on his face. He hadn't had a friend over since he was eleven, much less someone of such high rank.
Baekhyun smiled and Sehun felt whatever awkwardness float away. They spent the rest of the lunch period getting to know each other better and as they headed back to class Sehun realized something that scared him... He was breaking one of his own rules, something he vowed never to do.
He was falling in love.
