Julie felt herself fall freely as William jumped from the window. She tried to scream, since she has always been afraid of heights, but the rope covering her mouth didn't let her do as she wanted.
William landed on the ground, not letting her fall, and then started running towards one of the abandoned parts of the city that surrounded The Fortress. "Don't worry, Juliette, it will all be over soon", Julie heard William assure her as he carried her over his shoulder.
Julie tried to get free from his grasp many times during the not-so-long trip, but stopped once she realized that if he DID let her fall, it would probably be the end of her.
<Wait a minute,> Julie thought, <isn't this part of the city ruled by zombies?!>. She tried struggling once more to alert William of the stupidity he was about to commit: if they both entered zombie territory not only would she be in trouble, but he would as well.
William chuckled, once again reading her thoughts, "Do you really think I would be stupid enough to endanger the key to our victory?" he asked her in an annoyed tone.
<Yes, I do> she answered with her thoughts as they both entered the city.
William stopped running once they were about a hundred meters into the city and let Julie fall onto the ground with a thud.
The rope that was holding her retracted and wrapped itself around William's right hand.
Julie immediately got up and tried to attack William, who just avoided her with a smile on his face. "I wouldn't be doing that if I were you," William warned her, "In fact, I would probably be greeting our new friends."
Julie kept quiet, since zombies were attracted by sound, and looked around. Fair enough, about twenty zombies were approaching them by now, but she knew well enough that those twenty zombies could easily turn into hundreds if she made just one big sound.
"Wanna get into trouble?" William shouted his question at Julie while turning to the zombies. Julie's eyes got wide as she saw even more zombies approaching them; it made no more sense to keep quiet: this moron had probably caught the attention of all zombies in the city.
"I really hope you have an idea, you ass, unless you want your brain getting eaten by a bunch of zombies", Julie warned William while glaring.
William just smirked at this. "Dear, haven't you noticed how they are only hunting you?"
Julie then watched as William started walking towards the hoard: the zombies backed down wherever he walked by.
<It's ok, Julie, he wouldn't let some zombies eat you because his clan would probably kill him if something happened to their "key"> Julie thought to herself.
Just as she finished thinking that, William appeared behind her and grabbed her by the waist. "As clever as always, aren't we?" He asked her.
"Just please tell me you DO have a plan?", Julie asked William, knowing he was her only way of escaping this place alive.
William just put his head on top of hers before saying, "Of course I do; I would never let them hurt you."
Julie sensed a different tone in his voice than the one he had been using lately with her, and she was about to ask if he meant the zombies or his own clan, but then William let her go and turned to look at the hoard that was just a few meters away.
"She is to live as long as she is with me", William stated loud and in an imposing way to the zombies, who seemed to frown, stop and then back off.
William then turned to look at Julie, "You heard the orders they will follow, now come with me if you don't want to be eaten by a bunch of zombies." Then he started walking away.
