Beep, beep, beep.
Julie stirred in her sleep.
“Come on, Julie! We’ll be late if you don’t hurry up!”
Julie couldn’t bring herself to wake up. Suddenly, she felt the covers being pulled from her; she groaned.
“I’ll go have a bath and I expect you to be at least awake when I come back, alright?” Ellie said before going out of the room.
Julie rubbed her eyes and stretched as she decided to get up from her slumber.
She sat up and looked around in her room: what was she going to wear today to meet the council?
Julie decided it wouldn’t really matter anyways, since it wasn’t really a formal meeting, so she just threw on some jeans and a t-shirt, and then she just pulled her hair up in a bun.
Ellie came in bathed and already dressed just as Julie finished applying the foundation to her face.
“We’ve got five minutes to get there; let’s hurry.” Ellie said as she dried her hair with magic.
“Isn’t it forbidden to use magic for such superficial purposes?” Julie asked as they got out of the room.
“Not if no one knows… Not like everyone follows that rule, anyways.” Ellie said locking their room and walking down the hall.
Julie didn’t push the issue further and followed her.

They were now sitting through the revision of Julie’s case: apparently, Ashton had thought it would be a good idea to somehow tell the council of the little encounter Julie and him had the day before, and apparently, the council found it to be some ‘solid’ proof to Julie’s ‘latent dark nature’.
Julie was falling asleep through the whole deal even if she knew she wasn’t supposed to, but she knew Ellie would be paying enough attention for the both of them.
After a few minutes, the council called the session off and everyone was allowed to exit the meeting room.
“This isn’t looking to good, you know?” Ellie told Julie once they were having breakfast.
“Why do you say that?” Julie questioned Ellie as she took a sip of her bottle of blood. This thing really tasted good.
“What do you mean? Were you even paying attention to the whole deal?!” Ellie suddenly blurted out, “‘Questionable human characteristics’ and ‘latent dark nature’ rings a bell?”
“Yeah, but I know that can be easily proved otherwise, Ellie… It’s not like I’m killing everyone in here…” Ellie waved off.
“Yeah, but if you keep threatening people like you did with Ashton, this will not end up very well, you know?” Ellie chastised her.
“I’m not throwing threats to everyone who comes my way, Ellie!” Julie glared at her friend, “Besides, it’s the only threat I’ve done ever since I LIVE here!”
“Couldn’t you just hold your ‘only threat’ to AFTER the trial? It’s like you don’t even care what’s going to happen to you!” Ellie practically shouted, but then calmed down, seeing as she didn’t want to attract any more attention, “You DO know that if they find you guilty, they will burn you…”
Julie almost choked on her blood at this. “Yeah, well, I could at least negotiate so that Nathan would be set free, right?”
“Hearing what they said today, it’s most likely that Nathan will be set free regardless of YOUR own outcome.” Ellie sighed as she finished eating.
