"Ano na naman 'to?" Maine was blindfolded feeling the sand on her feet as she awkwardly walks along the shoreline. Richard's arms were around her waist, acting as her personal Rogelio, guiding her every step.
"Surprise nga diba? No peeking Love. Ouch!!!" She accidentally stepped on his toes.
"Oops sorry Love." She turned around and blindly caressed his face. It has always been a favorite habit of hers. Richard kissed her hands and placed it on his heart.
"I love you."
Just three simple words. But it is more than enough to make her whole. She hugged him. And in total darkness, with only the beating of his heart, she felt home.
Richard removed her blindfold and she gasped at the scenery before them. Basked in the beauty of the Boracay moonlight, lay a blanket, soft pillows, and 2 goblets.
"We are stargazing tonight. You love it?"
"And I love you too."
She linked her arms around Richard's neck and swayed to their dance of love. He dipped her and they ended sprawled on the blanket with smiles on their faces. Richard asked her to open the picnic basket and inside, in the middle of grapes and cheese, is a fortune cookie. She cracked it open and tears immediately welled in her eyes.

"Yes, yes, yes, and Yes in this lifetime and in the infinite nexts."
Richard held her hand to make her stand. He knelt on one knee and slipped the ring on her finger that is sparkling on her beautiful hand.
He kissed her on the forehead. He then kissed her on the nose. Then, he went for her lips. Their breaths mingled as he held her face and she naked her hands on his neck. Their tounges duelled for dominance as they explored each and every crevice on their sweet mouths. He is happy. She is happy. And she wants to share this happiness to everyone.
"Ay teka, Facetime natin si RJ". (Connecting)
"RJ, Bes, Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa." She squealed while showing the ring on her finger.
"Congrats Maine. Congrats sa inyo ni Richard. I am happy for you. So hindi na ako puede mag I love you?"
"Bawal na Bes. Magiging Mrs. Nicomaine Dei Mendoza Gonzales na ako."
"O sige na. Ayokong makaistorbo sa celebration niyo. Congrats ulit Maine."
"Thankyou. I am so happy. Uy abay ka ha. Bawal huminde. Ito na ang huling I love you ko. Bye."
She looks happy, no really happy. And immediately as RJ ended the call, tears welled in his eyes.
For nestled in his heart, chained in his necklace, is a diamond ring. The one that he was supposed to give her.
And as the tears continue to flow, he said in a breath of a prayer his last I love you to the one who will always own his heart but is also the one who could never be.
