MERRY CHRISTMAS 🎄 here is a long overdue update as my present to you. thanks for sticking w this book and my sucky updating schedule 😉💓
"Hey, um, when was the last time anyone heard from my dad?" I ask no one in particular.
"Like, a week ago." Dean replies. "Why? What's wrong?" He walks over to stand next to me.
I'm sat at my dad's desk, reading up on some lore in books in the jackets of popular books. I came up with that disguise and I'm very proud of it.
So was dad, until he found out that all of the book jackets were Young Adult fiction. It's not my fault that I only read YA, so the only book jackets I have are for titles such as 'The Hunger Games' and 'Harry Potter'.
Dean takes a gulp of the beer in his hand and leans his forearms onto the desk to my left and looks over to what I'm reading.
I roll my eyes and sigh, waiting for a wave of questions.
"What are you reading?" Dean asks, almost as soon as I expected.
I close the book. "Maybe you could phone my dad?" I tell Dean, avoiding his question, as Dan is sat in his crease.
"Why don't you do that yourself?" He snaps back.
"Because I'm reading." I say, winking at him and taking the jacket off to show him the actual cover of the book, which is a pentagram.
"Oh, right, yeah." He mutters as he gets off of the desk, walks to the middle of the room and pulls his phone out of his pocket.
He taps on his phone a few times and takes another gulp of beer as he brings it up to his ear.
After a couple of seconds, he talks. "Bobby, it's Dean. If you could call one of us to let us know you're okay, that'd be awesome." He grumbles as I stand up and make my way over to him. "Arianna's starting to get worried." He whispers into the phone.
"Shut up!" I shout, punching him in the arm lightly.
He just sniggers and continues, "Told you." He hangs up and turns to me.
"He didn't answer you either?" I ask Dean, my brain struggling to think of reasons why my dad wouldn't answer his phone.
Maybe he's beating up the monster he went hunting and has dropped his phone while doing so?
But, he hasn't contacted us at all since he left. That's not like dad. He usually contacts me a couple of days after he leaves, at least. You can't blame me for being worried.
Dean sighs and takes my shoulders. "Look, sweetheart, he's probably jus-"
"Hold up." I say before he can continue.
"They don't love you like I love you." Dan sings badly from his crease.
I laugh at him and then turn to high five him, but before I can Dean stops me.
"Arianna." He says, concerned. "You need to stop ignoring me, okay? I'm trying to help."
The look in his eyes tells me he's genuinely worried about the way I'm acting about this.
"One, never ever call me 'sweetheart' or I will eat your ears. And two, I'm worried. Cut me some slack." I reply, ripping my arm from under his grip. "Anyway, I was gonna say something, before Pooh rudely interrupted me." I shoot a fake glare at Dan, who sinks further into his crease with wide eyes.
I chuckle and turn back to Dean. "We're gonna go upstairs." I tell him as I grab his wrist and pull him with me.
He struggles to get out of my grip, but luckily I have more strength than he thinks, as I keep ahold of him.
