My mother said I'd be perfect for the military, it was the time to show I grew up, and only I knew that.I was only a medium sized man with white, coarse skin.I was strong but not military strong ,that small idea went the worst way it could've cause it saw me end up in prison.

"You'd be just perfect for the Military my young boy!" My mum said.
"Well...I am nowhere near fit and I can barely lift my own weight! But yes, That's a brilliant idea!"I replied sarcastically.
"Well I'm only just saying."She answered as she rose and picked up her cup of tea and toast.
"Hey, good morning everybody!" My brother said joyfully as he walked into the room.
My brother sat opposite her, even though it was 7 in the morning, he was already dressed and ready to leave. He was a rather small man with the same colour skin as I had and he had light ash brown messy hair but I had auburn brown hair.He was always like this, just like every other man in town, well apart from me.
His phone rang. My brother jumped out of my chair, nearly dropping the table on the floor. Our mother calmly sipped her tea and watched the news. I watched my brother talking on the phone over my cup of water. I rested my hand on my mother's hand, as I walked over to my brother.
But as I watch brother's smile drop, I knew that something was wrong. I sensed something terrible happening right now. "This isn't true, it can't be!", I heard my brother whisper as he put his phone down on the table, grabbed his coat and quickly left the house.
My mother looked worried when she turned to face me. Words never left our mouths, we just both stood up and ran to the door. What could be happening? One question I wanted to know the answer to more than ever.I dragged my mother into the car and we drove around. I sat staring at her, she looked frozen in her place. "What if it's your father?" she said, although I knew I didn't know how to answer that. "Don't think like that." I replied. Mother could not go on living without father since our dear grandpa's death, so I feared the worst for his poor state of health. Suddenly, thick black smoke appeared in front of us, the entire military base was on fire.
I drove as fast as possible.
"Excuse me, Sir?" The man started.
"We need to get in, we think that my husband and son are in there!"Mum shouted.
"We are doing everything we can ma'am, the fire was unexpected and we've called local fire brigades."He said.
"Mum, don't worry!" I said as I jumped out of the car and ran as fast as possible to the entry point of the base. I ran and the security guy shouted at me and told me to come back here now but at this point I didn't care, my brother and father's lives were at stake and I had to do something.
I ran towards the entrance then a huge explosion occurred causing me to fly back in the force of the blast. I dropped on the floor and my mother rushed to me and I sat up and held her head as she sobbed into my shirt.
After watching the base explode, I started to tear up knowing it was all done, they were gone. I ran back to the car and suddenly noticed a black figure walking through the smoke coughing and coughing, that figure fell to the floor and I rushed out of my car and looked at the figure,it was my brother. His face was half burned off and he lay on the floor. I rolled him onto his face and lifted him up, at the time I didn't even think about where my father was, I only focused on getting my brother the help he needed, I had to help him.
We got to the hospital and noticed lots of military men inside the place we rushed as fast as possible to a seat. My brother asked for water and I quickly went and got him some. He drank lots of water. My mother talked to a doctor and told him about what happened.
"Well Ms as you can see we have lots of people here suffering the same injury or even worse."he said.
"Is there anything you can do?"she asked him.
"If it helps my name is Mrs Shadows"she said.
"Hey, are you married to Mr Shadows, the colonel?" a random man asked.
"Yes I am" mother replied.
"Let her go before us." he said
"Thank you, sir." I said to the man before my brother was taken into the room
We stood in the room with our brother for a while then all of sudden he just passed out. He lay there for countless hours without even showing a sign of life.
"The doctor said it's time for us to leave, son." mother said.
"Can't I stay here?" I asked.
"Unfortunately, No" she replied
We headed home and many questions rushed through my head but they all were focused to these two: Where was my father? and was my brother going to be OK? Only time would tell...
