As his panting stopped, the boys awoke and because they became aware of someone else shakily breathing above them.
"Peter help!"
With a stab of regret, he realised that the whole place must've been terrifying for his friend. He needed to check on Sam-but he also needed I get out of the woods before the man came again. Raising his head, he saw a long muddy path and he knew that Sam couldn't fend for himself. Sam was a skinny young boy with black hair and olive skin. His clothes never usually fit him and he was extremely weak. Sam shrieked again. The other boy went after Sam and the man was unknown to them but he was wearing military attire and much of his face was burned off. This man was unusual, he was a hybrid, different to all but made to kill.
4 years after...
As I woke up it was a completely different atmosphere from four years ago I still couldn't imagine that after so long my brother was supposed to come back after two weeks and he never even came back. I don't know if he's dead or if he's alive. But he had to be in this town, this town was special so he couldn't have left it all behind. In our town we were about 850 to 900 people. My family had lived in this town for some amount of years now. I liked our town, I liked the people there and the town itself. Everything could still have been exactly like it was then if that day had never taken place-but it did-it wasn't an ordinary day, I never had any of those anymore.
I was sitting by the table eating my breakfast, with my uncle. It was around midday. Suddenly a man, one of my uncle's friends, came rushing in and shouted; "He's here! He's here again!". My uncle quickly reacted and stood up, grabbed his knife and his gun and ran out with the man.
My mother took me and led me upstairs where she told me to stay until they returned. I wanted to follow them so when my mother went I grabbed my dagger, a gift from my father before he disappeared, and ran out. It was a good looking day, the snow lay thick and reflected the sunshine. I stopped for a moment. Everything was so beautiful, but yet I hated that day so badly. Then I suddenly remembered why I was out here. I heard voices from the other end of the town. I began running in that direction. Then I saw him. Nicolas, the man who had punished our town with fires and murders, had been found. The only problem was that he was a hybrid; he was half human and half dragon,he was truly unique.
His wings threw a huge shadow over the village; it almost seemed like the sun had disappeared. He was about 80 metres above ground and his flames consumed the snow beneath him and ignited nearby houses. He began to fly towards me. He crushed a house before he flew over me. I was thrown backwards. I laid still, worried. I heard the sound of houses crumbling behind me. I just couldn't move. He seemed a lot larger when he was this close.
Minutes passed. The dragon had flown around several times. I stood up, still shaking. I picked up my dagger which had been thrown away some meters when the dragon passed over me. I looked around me in shock. The whole town was destroyed, some houses were still burning and slowly falling apart. I began walking to the other edge of the village from were I had heard voices before; first with slow, shaking steps. I came to the slope were our town ends.
Then I knew why that hybrid monster had flown away from there and into the main part of the village; his work here was done. I was looking at a terrifying scene of slain men and women, all of the town's adults were laying there scattered all over the area. Slain in the most ruthless ways.
My dagger fell from my hand. I couldn't move. I knew my mother was down there. I went down the slope. Some people had been burned so badly , unrecognisable by the dragon's flames, others had been shredded by his claws, pierced by his sharp tail or even bitten in half by his huge jaws.
My uncle shot a huge missile at him and he fell to the ground throwing my uncle into a hard wall. I wasn't able to find my mother among the recognisable bodies. The snow was red. I trembled. I was left alone with these dead bodies and a mass murder, what was I supposed to do?
I found Nicolas in the rubble and I shouted and screamed at him for the things he had caused. My anger and fear crept up on me and I did something that was completely unthinkable. I got my uncle's gun and shot that evil man in his head. This man had killed many people and robbed many but I didn't think about that. I thought about the fact that he had just killed the only family I had left. The police came to the scene, it took some time but before they came I just dropped to the floor in tears. It wasn't like the first time, there was no brother coming out of the flames, it was just me, alone.
The police didn't believe a single word I had said about that hybrid, they didn't care about our town. Off in the distance I saw my mother, her head lay peacefully on the floor with blood surrounding her and my uncle wasn't moving at all.
These police officers said they arrested me on suspicion of murder. I hardly murdered anyone, well apart from Nicolas, but he deserved it. That evil man had killed my family. I had nobody to call and I had nobody to save me from this mess. It was going to be a long time for me in prison...
