A few hours later me and my brother awoke surprised to find ourselves still inside the shed. We were now cold, more hungry and even more thirsty.
Outside the shed were six or maybe seven laid slabs. They were big and silver, with tiny crumbly shapes made by insects and bugs poking out of the slabs. I occasionally stamped them out of existence.
In the afternoon, as the sun was slowly beginning to sink in the sky and the clouds had started their teatime strolls, slowly walking around the darkening sky. It started to rain. The cool drops hitting the slabs outside made a pleasing sound, I thought about the wonderful water from the sky, it sounded so refreshing. We decided to make the gap larger and try to break out of the shed, we would have to pay for it but at least we would be out.
The ants on the slabs completely panicked as we broke through the shed. We broke a hole big enough for my brother to fit through so we did it and he went through and opened the shed door from the outside. It was barred with a heavy piece of metal or stone maybe. We were both desperately thirsty and hungry. We weren't able to enter the house because we were locked in from inside.
A cool gust of wind and a spatter of rain ruffled my hair. I looked quickly from left to right and then shot down the garden towards the hedge but luckily that hedge went to a yard with community bins, the main road and further allotments. The allotments were followed after with a large thicket. We slid under the hedge and observed our options from there.
To our right there was a wasteland a few hundred metres across until we reached the cover of the allotments and the thicket behind. To our left there was the large and overflowing community bins that gave of a horrendous stench. My mother often complained about it but nobody ever did anything about it. But even though it was disgusting and smelled foul we were starving and we actually considered eating the sticky spare ribs and leftover chicken from the bins.
But we could worry about food later, the same white spirit that almost killed my brother came into mind. The most urgent need right now was that we needed a drink. My mouth was terribly dry and raspy. A wonderful thing caught my eye, it was a man drinking a very large bottle of water. Right now we didn't think at all, we attacked the man and took his water and it turns out that he was that supposed uncle.
"Hey....what do you two think you're doing?" He asked
"You locked us in the shed!!" I shouted
"No I didn't, I went to the shop with your mother." He replied
"Then where on Earth is she then?" I asked
"Gone back into the house." He replied
"Then why are you out here?" My brother asked
"We forgot to buy milk and some thing called Tarnus drops or something." He replied
"Tartus drops you mean, well thanks for that I was really starting to ge-...." Brother started
"No, I don't know who you are but I don't trust you one bit. You seem way to suspicious!" I said
"Well Ed, we must trust him, he's buying my favourite candy!" My brother said
"You're 23 for heavens sake, stop eating candy!" I snapped
"It relieves the stress that is held upon my very vessel." He said
"What do you think this is? And what book did you take that from? OK OK Tho-...I mean Kent" I said
"You're acting like I'm hearing voices telling me to kill people. I mean I'm not that kind of person!" He snapped
"Why are we arguing?" I asked
"I don't know." He replied
"So mister-....." I started
The man disappeared without a single trace. It was truly extraordinary for him to just do this. He might be apart of my family cause my family loves to disappear quickly....father. I just wonder about him sometimes if I'll ever see him again or if I just imagined him or something. Maybe I will one day. Maybe I will.
