He hugs you. You're supposed to be jealous over the girl that has your old crushes attention, the girl that manages to make him smile more than you ever could, but you aren't really. You let her flirt with the guy who really likes her and you stare up at the boy that you do like. The boy you aren't supposed to like and you're certainly in denial.

He asks you how you are and watches as you lie your way through saying your fine.

He gives you a puzzled look.

You tell him that he's a great person, you appreciate having him in your life, and that he's one of the people you can talk go to when something's wrong (yet, he's oblivious to many other things he does), it shocks him.

You want to mention to him that you wish you guys hung out more, as you want to know him better than his outside concept, but because he won't understand you simply give him a smile and feel your heart beat slow down slightly disappointed in yourself. So you tell him never-mind.

Because you're afraid.

The boy you use to like has a confused expression and you don't know how to respond and your friend is laughing in the back. Who knows what the boy you like is doing, but all your attention is aimed towards him and he's smiling and has an expression and for once, he seems to be amused at you.

Your friend that can't keep their mouth shut exposes what you said about the boy when you were ranting. He's someone you don't want to lose. And they're just as confused as he is, and you know that he's certainly more than just a friend to you.
