I stomp into the math room. Of course everyone stares, me being the 'nerd' girl and all. "Natsu." I say in a voice somewhere between sad and mad. He stares up at me. "What." He says plainly, staring daggers at me. I think he is trying to challenge me. "What is this?" I say through gritted teeth and raise the paper up.
"Oh, that's your diary." He says back getting anxious. "I am so mad I could just..." I look around the room and think of something that I could do. "KICK YOU!" I yell. I wish I hadn't said it. Levy looks terrified in her little desk corner. I don't think she wants to be my friend anymore. "Do it then." He says. "I'm sorry?" I ask misunderstanding him. "Do it." He repeats. Just then I remember the promise I made him.
FLASHBACK
"Lushee, what's a sqware?" Asks Natsu, looking up from the little colored blocks that we were learning with in Kindergarten. "You mean a square?" I correct him. "Yeah." I move over a blue square block from my pile. "That's a square." I say. "Wow you sure are smart Lucy." He flashes one of his signature grins at me and I smile back. All of a sudden Lisanna grabs Natsu's arm because it's time for recess. "C'mon Natsu!" She races him outside. I follow.
"LUSHEE! Come play in the sandbox with me and Lisanna!" Natsu yells across the playground. "Coming!" I sprint across the concrete and jump into the warm sand. It feels good on my legs. "Lets have a sand castle building contest!" Natsu declares. "I'll be the judge!" Me and Lisanna laugh and nod.
"Ready, set, go!" Me and Lisanna start building our sand castles. I've built mine up to about ankle height when Natsu says stop. Mine has a moat, 4 towers and a N + L drawn in the sand in-front of it. "Now I'll decide." He looks at both of ours very closely. I mean eye and inch from sand close.
"Lushee!" I feel a jolt of happiness go up my spine. "Thanks!" I say, then smile at him. Then I feel a little pinch and watch Lisanna run away. "Hey! Lisanna say sowwy to Lucy!" He yells after her. All she does is stick out her tongue. Then he looks back at me. "We won't ever hurt each other right Lushee?" He asks. "Of course not. I promise with all of my heart. We're best friends."
"Forever?"
"Forever."
END OF FLASHBACK
"I-I-" I stammer. "What?" Asks Natsu. "I made a promise." I get out. "To who? Yourself?" He says back harshly. That gets a good laugh. "No it was to-" I get cut off by Mr. Elfman tugging on my hand. He also grabs Natsu's and pulls us together. We are lead to the office. Great. 2nd time in a week. Ms. Erza must of called the office or something.
We are urged into the 2 seats in-front of the principal. Mr. Elfman leaves, then Vice Principal Mirajane takes our hands into her cold ones and puts cold metal around our wrists. Handcuffs? "We will be changing your schedules." She says. "What?" Asks Natsu. He is as confused as I am. "You will be doing everything together until you can get along." Says Principal Makarov. My mind freezes. It just freezes.
"Everything?!" I ask petrified. "Everything." Replies Principal Makarov. A million things run through my mind. Eating, reading, showering, sleeping, changing, going to the bathroom...AHHHHHH!! My mind explodes. "But what about the more personal things?" I ask, hoping there's a key. "Figure it out yourself." Is all they say to me. Me and Natsu's eyes bulge out of our fricking heads. This must be a nightmare! I pinch myself. That doesn't work. I click my shoes three times. Nope. WHY DID YOU DO THIS TO ME UNIVERSE?!
-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-
"This stinks." I say out loud. "Yeah, but there is no way in hell that I'm sleeping next to you." Natsu says. "Dsssh. Same." I say, then smile a little. "We never became friends, so leave me alone." Natsu shoots back. "Uh, dude I wish I could but it looks like we're stuck together till the end." We walk down the path that leads to Natsu's house, then he turns and I continue to walk forward. We then fall back and slam our heads into one another. "Hey! Watch out!" Yells Natsu. We try to stand up numerous times. Then we finally almost get up.
But then Natsu's face lands on my chest. I flush. "Need any help lovebirds?" Asks Natsu's dad. I seriously need to have a chat with him about our relationship. "We're NOT dating for the last time dad! And oh, um yeah." Says a muffled Natsu voice. "You guys have been holding hands this whole time." He says sarcastically then points at our handcuffed hands. "What happened?" He pulls us up and asks.
"School." I say. "We were messing around in the hall." Natsu gives me a weird look. Mr. Dragneel shakes his head as if he knows it's a lie. So he changes the subject. "So...where's your mom these days?" He asks. I don't really know how to answer though. Natsu gives us another weird look. "You know her mom?" He asks. "Oh, well we used to work together." He covers up, then winks at me when Natsu's not looking.
Again, we walk separate ways. But Natsu's dad is there to catch both of us. "So you guys have to do everything together huh?" He says. "Yep." I reply. "The sad truth." Adds Natsu. A smile spreads across his face about as wide as a watermelon. I mentally face-palm. "So you can stay here tonight because your hand-cuffed together Lucy." Natsu's face falls. "Really?" Then Igneel makes it sound even more gross. "And while your at it you can sleep in Natsu's bed." Igneel lifts his eyebrows up and down.
Here we go.
