Shizuo's POV

For three days, Izaya and I have a unspoken truce between us to not play around until the end of the ball. Even though we fight a lot, we both know how to separate our personal and professional emotions.

Some people say it's hard to believe that we hate each other, and others ask how do we stand each other.

Though keeping our emotions separate, both of us were able to achieve the highest ranking servant status. Head butlers are supposed to be calm and collected in any situation, no matter the circumstances.

I walk around making sure that everyone is ready for tomorrow night. I go over to the garden, and see Izaya talking to one of the landscapers.

I walk up to him, and he dismisses the man then turns toward me. "So what do you want?" He asks.

"I was just seeing if everything was going fine." I answer to him.

"Well everything is fine on my side, so there's no reason for you to check." He says, then walks away going over to a woman wearing a lab coat.

I watch them for awhile, and they look like they're actually having fun talking. I wish I could talk to him like that... Wait! I shouldn't be thinking that we can get along like that.

I walk away from them, and go out of the garden. As I'm walking by the statue at the entrance I see a young maid trying to clean the top of the windows. She looks too short to reach so she tries to jump and clean.

I have a bad feeling about this so I start to walk towards her. She jumps again missing her footing and starts to fall.

I try to run over to catch her but when she lands I'm only able to save her head from hitting the ground. It looks like she may have passed out during the fall but it still worries me.

I instantly call out to someone to come here, and a few seconds later I see a few nearby landscapers, maids, and butlers run toward us. After them, I see Izaya coming with the woman from earlier.

"Hey, what happened?" Izaya asks.

"She was trying to clean the windows, but she lost her footing, and fell." I explained.

"Well it looks like she broke her leg." The woman Izaya was talking to earlier says, motioning to the maids leg.

She goes to examine the girl in my arms, and then tells one of the maids closest to her to get her boss. The maid runs off to find the boss, and Izaya leans in closer to the woman he was talking with earlier.

Izaya's POV

I bring my face closer to her ear and ask "Did you have to get him?"

"Yes."

"Okay, but Namie, you know I can't stand him."

"Well you can stand him more than Heiwajima." Namie states.

"That may be true, but still..."

The guy isn't really my favorite human, far from it. He gets on my nerves sometimes, and that's really hard to do, unless you're Shizu-chan.

I look over at Shizu-chan still holding on to the girl looking at her with soft, caring eyes. In truth, I'm wondering if maybe she was one of the girls he's screwed around with. I mean, if he acts that way with her she's got to be pretty special. Or not. I mean I shouldn't be thinking about this, it's not like I care.

I stand there watching and then someone comes up behind me. They roughly grab my shoulder and say, "Hello Izaya!"

My reflexes kick in and I almost hit the person right in the stomach. But I'm stopped by black shadows coiling around my arm.
