Butlers, Trying

Shizuo's POV

I wake up early the next morning and quickly get dressed, make my bed, and go down to the masters office before Izaya gets to my room.

I knock on his door and I'm allowed in. When I walk inside I say, "Sorry for not telling you before hand or coming in without being properly invited."

"Do not worry about it Mr. Heiwajima, what is the reason?" The master says calmly.

"I want to go back to being a butler."

"What do you mean?"

"I no longer want to be engaged with your daughter, so can you please call off the wedding." I beg.

"I am truly sorry but calling off the wedding and breaking the engagement is not in my power, it is my daughter's. You know well enough that my daughter will get what she wants. That is why you were able to be chosen to marry her in the first place."

"Then I will go talk with Miss Varona." I say then turn and leave.

But before the door closes I hear the master say, "Good luck with that."

I walk through the hallways and look for Varona, but she's nowhere inside so I head to the entrance of the garden. When I get to the door a hand stops me and I look beside me seeing Izaya angry.

"Where have you been, Mr. Heiwajima. I was looking all over for you." Izaya says then starts to pull me a way from the doorway and in the direction of the ballroom and continues, "I need to get you to your lessons on time."

"Wait Izaya," I say and pull back from him then continue, "what I'm doing now is more important."

"And what could be so important, Mr. Heiwajima?" He asks in a calm voice.

"Trying to get my job back and break my engagement." I state.

Izaya stares at me seriously for about a second then starts laughing then I yell, "Why are laughing?!"

"Sorry, Mr. Heiwajima I couldn't hold it in. But you may be able to get your job back, though you will never be able to break the engagement."

"What do you mean?! I will be able to do both."

"No, you won't. Miss Varona will never accept it." Izaya say calming down.

"Why would you say that? Don't you love me?" I ask and Izaya goes completely silent.

"I do, but Miss Varona always gets what she wants. So why try?" He says starting to get tears in his eyes.

I hold his head and wipe away one of the tears then kiss Izaya on the forehead. I wrap my other arm around him and pull him closer.

Then I say to him, "I will be with you Izaya. Please remember that, I'm in love with you."

He looks up at me and asks, "Why do you have to say these things?"

"Because I love you." I say then put my lips onto his and hold him close.

Izaya's POV

Shizu-chan kisses me and I melt into the kiss instantly. When he pulls away so we can breathe I smile up at him.

Then I hear someone walking towards us so I quickly move away from Shizu-chan and see Miss Varona. I bow to her and she goes straight to Shizu-chan ignoring me.

She says Shizu-chan, "Shizuo, I've been trying to find you. I was told you wanted to talk to me."

"Yes I do." Shizu-chan says.

Then I speak up saying, "I will go tell Miss Haruka that you will not be at lessons today."

"Okay." Shizu-chan responds.

I bow to both of them then leave, but when I turn the corner I stop and start to listen to their conversation.

"What did you want to tell me?" Miss Varona asks.

"I want to have my old job back and I don't want to marry you." Shizu-chan says.

I hear a long silence, but then hear Miss Varona say, "You can have your job back, but you will not be breaking our marriage. Now where did that butler, Orihara go I'm going to need to tell him what to do."

After that I start heading to the ballroom, but I hear yelling coming from both of them and I know Shizu-chan is trying to break his engagement.  Which makes me a little happy.

When I get to the ballroom I see Rin waiting and I go up to her and tell her that Shizu-chan won't be here today. I'm not going to mention anything else though, she needs to hear that from someone other than me.

When Rin is about to leave Miss Varona comes in and tells me what I already know. Then tells Rin not to come back, but she was happy that she was able to come for lessons.

Though I think that she was being nice just so Rin would come back to continue teaching once Shizu-chan and Miss Varona get married.

Once Miss Varona is finished she leaves and I go find Shizu-chann so we can talk about what's going to happen.

After asking a few maids and butlers I find Shizu-chan sulking in his room on his bed. I go up to him and he pulls me into a hug.

Then says, "You were right. Varona wouldn't call off the engagement."

"But at least we can talk to each other normally around others, now." I say.

"You're right again, but..."

"What is it?"

Shizu-chan stands up then kisses me passionately and I kiss him back wrapping my arms around his neck pulling myself closer to him. When we pull away to breathe Shizu-chan gently lays me on the bed and moves over me.

I then ask, "What are you doing?"

"I want to be with you, so if we stay here together..."

"Shizu-chan..." I say getting his attention then put my hand behind his head pull him down into a kiss.

When we part I continue saying, "We both know that's impossible in this situation. But no matter what happens I will be here for you from now on."

"I love you, Izaya." Shizu-chan says smiling at me.

"I love you too, Shizu-chan."

After I say that Shizu-chan hugs me and we stay in the embrace for I don't know how long until I have to leave.

I walk to my room and wonder how is all of this going to end up? Though I'm still a little happy that Shizu-chan was trying to get his job back and break the engagement. Thank you for trying Shizu-chan, I really do love you.
