They were traveling though The Storm Coast. And Solas was thinking, mostly about The Herald, to himself as they walked. He caught himself glancing and staring at her more and more. He didn't want to. Gods! He didn't want to. But he just loved how she did... well, everything. The way she lit up the room just by being in it. The way she talked; understanding and sincere but forwardly. How when they were climbing through thickets or steep ravines she was considerate in her movements. If there was an obstacle in her way she found away either around it or over it.

She always paused before going down paths to check for danger or inclines. And she always found the most efficient way to get to a destination. Never brash about decisions. Everything she did was well thought and perfectly carried out.

And she never acted out of jealousy or tried to cover up other's opinions or strategies. Everyone was listened to before making a huge decision. And she relied on that judgement. She had told him specifically before, "I make decisions far greater than myself. I cannot consider only me. Because if that were so, this wouldn't be a team. For this team to work everyone must work together and be listened to. Everyone must be allowed to contribute."

He loved that about her. She relied on what others thought, but not in an ignorant way. She thought up a plan on her head and put all the best pieces from all standpoints and made the best decision. And the way she held herself. The way she walked. The way she observed everything. She never missed a step or tripped. She was completely in control of herself.

And she held herself in high regards. She always took care in the way she looked. Always respectable and efficient. Skirts were out of the question for her while adventuring. And she always smiled and looked at things as if they were new and exciting and magical. Each new place or flower had something special about it to her.

The way she wielded her bow with elegance and grace. He had commented her on it once and she had blushed, a beautiful flush was brought to her cheeks that made her eyes stand out against her valaslin. Which she bore proudly. She had the valaslin the Dalish thought honored Mythal.

It was a green color that matched her eyes which were a few shades darker and had almost golden centers. They were one of her best features. As if she had any bad features.

"Solas. You're staring at me. Everything okay?" She had caught him looking at her. He slightly blushed. "Oh no, just wondering what we're going to do about these rifts along the coast?" She smiled half seductively and half sarcastically, "Well, probably what we do with every other rift. Close it." We laugh. "Yes, I suppose so. Sorry."

She waved it off, "It's fine. Perhaps tonight you might tell me more stories from your travels. I love hearing about your travels." She smiled almost giddily now. "Of course. I'm glad you enjoy them." I return her smile and she nods and turns away. We make camp near the end of the plains. We could no longer go South.

It was nearing dark so wood was gathered and a fire was made. After everyone ate and settled in for the night and it was just himself and Ellana were left awake, she asked him, "Can I hear some more of your stories? Oh, I probably sound pushy, don't I? Sorry." He chuckled. "No worries, your enthusiasm is welcomed. What would you like to hear about?" He saw her trying to decide but she just shook her head. "Anything. Whatever you wish to tell." He nodded.

"Alright. Hmmm. How about a memory I came upon as I was traveling and exploring old Elvhen ruins near Tevinter? It was a memory about a small blind elven girl. She was from the time of Arlathan and the Evanuris. She used to walk the forests using a staff to detect obstacles on her way. She would wave it near the ground in front of her to find her way. And on one of her journeys she found a baby bird that had fallen from its nest. She then brought it back to her home and continued to raise it and nurture it. The two became very close and relied on each other. The bird was her eyes and she helped the bird learn to hunt. When the bird finally grew to adulthood, she let it go. And as she took it outside and gave it her parting words it cried. Tears fell from its eyes and one landed on her hand. Her blindness almost immediately disappeared and she saw for the first time. The bird then flew away and she spent the rest of her days guiding others. Teaching them to be kind and thankful." He finished.

"That was beautiful story. What was the girl's name? How did it cure her blindness? Did the bird possess magic?" She asked quickly. He laughed. "I don't know. The Fade protects only certain things." She then quieted and looked serious. "Solas, will the Inquisition and its people be imprinted upon the Fade? Will it be remembered?" He nodded.

"It already has. What we are doing- What you are doing- is already being recorded in history." She smiled. "I'm glad. I'd hate for these people to be forgotten. I'd hate for their courage and valor to be forgotten." She smiled sadly. "My dear Inquisitor, no one shall ever forget them, and they definitely won't forget you... I know I won't." He grab her hand giving it a quick squeeze. She smiled at his hand over hers.

And he realized right then, she had confided in him. She had shared her worries with him. She trusted him. She considered him a friend.

Maybe even more than a friend. Just maybe.
