Nora POV:
I was sitting outside on the outside stairs when Kyle drove up in a taxi.
He popped his head out the window with a grin on his face. "Hi Nora!"
I waved back in response.
Grabbing my bag and wallet off the ground and got into the taxi.
Kyle gave the taxi man an address, I wasn't paying attention, I was more focused on him.
He had a fake smile plastered on his face. His eyes were red, either from sleep deprivation, crying, or both. His shirt was wrinkled at the bottom from wringing it in his hands. It looked like he could have a nervous breakdown any second.
I kept silent though. This must've been very hard on him, his best friend going through this while he has to sit at the sidelines and not be able to do anything about it.
Ten minutes passed when I realized we weren't going to the hospital. Actually we were going in the complete opposite direction.
"Um, Kyle? Where we going?" I asked.
"Airport."
He's not very talkative today, but I knew exactly why we were headed there. His girlfriend and Dan's mom were flying in.
I watched out the window for the rest of the drive. I noticed Kyle was doing the same thing, just with a more depressed look on his face.
I didn't say anything once again, but I reached over to his hand and gave it a light squeeze.
He relaxed and sqeezed back.

I was getting more antsy as the time went on.
The flight landed about ten minutes ago and the luggage was being brought out making so the meeting of the most important woman in Kyle and Dan's life was quickly approaching.
To quickly in fact that when I looked up again they were coming down the escalators.
Kyle jumped up and ran to his girlfriend, knocking the air out of her no doubt as he hugged her.
I heard parts of their conversation, mostly the usual of how they've missed each other and a few times asking about Dan.
Ms. Smith came up to me, I think her name was Isla or something like that.
She looked distressed. "How....how is he?" She asked me nervously.
"Better." Relief filled her gaze. "He woke up for a bit, but only for a couple minutes, but everything so far is fine."
She nodded soberly, "Poor thing." She said under her breath.
"Oh I'm sorry!" Her demeanor quickly changed. "I'm Dan's mother, Isla, please call me that. And you are?"
I shook her hand, "Nora. Pleasure to meet you."
"Alright, let's go!" Kyle half yelled to us with a small grin on his face. Janna was wrapped under her arm looking content.
We all got in the taxi, me in the front this time, and everyone decided to go to the hospital first and check into the hotel later. The same one the boys are staying at.
Isla was all but sprinting to the reception center.
"I'm looking for my son, h-his name's Daniel Smith, came here yesterday...?"
The receptionist typed in his name in the computer. "Ah, yes, please wait right here."
A few minutes later she returned with a doctor in tow.
