Alex Karev sat in the locker room, George sitting next to him. The man was still mad over the whole STD thing which made Alex annoyed. But the pair looked over the list of things Cassandra Manning had on her list.
"You agreed to go on a date with a dying girl?" George questioned.
"You agree to do what?" the men didn't notice that both Izzie and Meredith came into the locker room, getting ready to start their shift.
"He agreed to help Cassandra with her ten things. One which includes losing her virginity."
"I won't take her virginity. I'm not an asshole."
"Debatable, really." Izzie said.
"Look I haven't figured it all out. But I'll help however I can."
"Why are you wanting to help her?"
"Because I feel bad for the girl. She has shit parents. She's dying. I want to do something nice. I have tonight off, so."
"Well rounds start soon, so you'll get to see your little girlfriend soon." George said, Alex glared at the man and left the locker room. He reached Doctor Bailey first, who was surprisingly smiling that's when he heard the singing.
"She feels good today." was all she said.
"What do her parents do that they'll always away?"
"They're in charge of something for Disturbed when they're on tour. I honestly have no idea. What I do know, Karev is that girl and her brother only have each other and Derek. It's been like that for years. Derek is more of a father figure to those two kids than either of their parents."
"She gave me her list, Doctor Bailey. I told her I'd help her. But it'll require me taking her out of the hospital."
"She is a grown girl. Help her. She deserves the world. You'll learn very quickly, there is no one in this world that compares to Cassandra Manning."
Rounds went as usual. The day went as usual. It was after his shift, after his shower and him getting dressed in something other than scrubs that he entered her room and saw her straightening her brown hair. He sat on her bed and shoved a handful of gummy bears in his mouth.
"Hey, Cassandra. You almost ready." she turned around and smiled. He looked at her full on and she had makeup covering the bags under her eyes and her deep red lips made her skin have a glow to it. She was beautiful sure, but this was something different. He saw something in her in that moment that he didn't see before. He saw beyond the sickness and he saw a young girl who was just looking to feel something other than pain in her last weeks of being alive. In that moment it was all eye opening because she just wanted to be a normal twenty-one year old and he would do everything to give her that.
