Cassandra told Alex they couldn't waste anytime that there was nothing special to plan because just being with Alex was going to be special enough. She had made Meredith promise not tell anyone, especially Derek that Alex Karev was going to be taking her virginity on this specific night, after a nice dinner at a restaurant that was near Alex's apartment. Meredith had only found out because Cassandra was having a minor panic attack about it when she came to check on her in the late afternoon when Alex stopped by to tell her that he made the reservation. Cassandra tried to ignore that fact that she knew she was getting sicker, she knew she only had a limited amount of time left that is why everyday Mason came to see her she asked if he had re-enrolled in Law School yet.
It was 5:30 when Meredith came into her room and closed the door and curtain with a dress bag in hand. She wondered what was inside and why she couldn't have just worn the outfit she made Mason bring from their house.
"Don't ask me, Alex just handed it to me and said have her wear this." she ripped the plastic dress bag away from the garment and looked at the floor length black dress and her eyes went wide.
"This is far to fancy to wear to the restaurant that he told me we were going to near his apartment. I googled it, so I'd know what I wanted to order."
"I don't know, sweetie. Maybe he is taking you somewhere else."
"Who knows." Cassandra got dressed and had her hair and makeup done with the help of Meredith by the time Alex reached the hospital. She looked over at him and saw that he was in a nice looking suit and wondered if he had that already or borrowed it from someone. She thought first of Derek and then she noticed the navy blue handkerchief in the breast pocket which was Mason's signature color when he wore suits and smiled.
"Why do I see that you're being discharged tomorrow on your chart?"
"Maybe because I am ready to go home. I want to die in my own home, in my own bed."
"So you are just giving up?"
"I'm not giving up, Alex! I fought for years and my cancer only spread. I am dying." Cass looked over at him, "I thought you said that you weren't going to beg me to fight."
"That was before."
"Before what?"
"Nothing. Are you ready?"
"I don't want to go if you're going to be angry with me." Alex took a deep breath and looked at the brunette girl in front of him. He had to admit she was beginning to look sicker and he was afraid that she wasn't going to be alive much more.
"I'm sorry I got upset. I just care about you. But it is your decision. You look absolutely stunning and I'd love to show my beautiful girlfriend off. Are you ready?"
"Yes, I am. Yell at me again and I'll kick you."
"I didn't exactly yell at you."
"You use a very unpleasant tone then. Which I didn't like, at all." Alex helped her put on her coat and they left the hospital.
Cassandra was surprised to see Alex pull up to the valet of a very expensive restaurant her parents had taken her and Mason to many times over the years when they decided to grace their children with the presence, "this is not where you told me we were going to eat."
"I wanted to surprise you."
"Well you did." the girls door was open by valet and she took the male who had to be her ages hand and he helped her out of the car. Alex was next to her in the next second and handing the keys over. They walked inside hand and hand and over to the hostess stand.
