The following week, Trojan loaded his box of medicine into Riane's car and shut the truck with vigor.
"Hey, watch it boy, this car won't last long if you treat it like that." Riane scolded, putting the car in drive as he hopped in.
"Yeah whatever." He laughed, kissing her on the cheek when he sat down.
Riane blushed profusely, she did every time he kissed her. It had been so long since she'd felt this happy.
"Hey, so you're going to be in bed a lot, because you need to heal."
"Yes, I know, I will." Trojan tapped his fingers on the dash.
The car sped down the highway, trees and brush whizzing past along the sides of the crumbling concrete. It was nine at night and the dark had already flooded the city. Lights shine everywhere, flashing, spinning, flickering, everything. Cars honked and screeched at intersections and people stared at their phones as they made their way down the crowded sidewalks.
Riane stopped at a light and looked sideways at Trojan's silhouette. He was smiling, and the sides of his mouth had that cute crease. "Hey Trojan. Guess what?" Riane whispered.
"What?" He responded, glancing sideways at her with a seductive flare in his eyes.
"Alexander and Lincoln were both arrested for attempted man slaughter and a bunch of other junk."
"Shit, well we knew that was coming."
"Wanna know something crazy though?"
"I don't know if I can ever be surprised anymore Riane, our lives have been crazier than I ever imagined in these past three weeks."
"Oh it's crazy."
"Alright, try me."
"You remember when Dawn's house burnt down?"
"Yeah, what about it?" Trojan yawned and leaned into his seat.
"It was Alexander!" Riane pulled up into Trojan's driveway.
"You're kidding."
"Nope! He wanted Dawn out of my life so that I didn't have any distractions."
Trojan's eyes widened. "Man that dude was savage!"
"No kidding, and Lincoln was working for him the whole time. He was supposed to separate me from you, but ended up going against his orders and-"
"Yeah I get it." Trojan huffed. "Alexander wanted everyone out of the picture so it could be just you and him. That's so stupid though. Seriously, no one can only have a boyfriend and get through life fine. You need friends to keep you afloat."
Riane nodded. "Yeah, you do. I can confirm that."
Trojan frowned. "You were pretty lonely weren't you?"
Riane turned the car off then faced him. "Yeah, it was a long year and a half, trust me."
"But everything's good now." Trojan's face inched closer to hers and his breath smelled like cinnamon.
"Yes, everything's perfect, Trojan." Riane leaned further over the arm of her seat and could feel Trojan's warm breath on her face. The car was completely dark, the lights in Trojan's neighborhood were out and it was pitch black.
The silence consumed them. Riane was like a cat, sitting in anticipation. And Trojan, his hair ruffled and his eyes soft, stared into the darkness in which he knew Riane sat.
It was completely quiet, nothing could be heard but a sharp gasp from Riane as Trojan's hands planted themselves on her face and aggressively brought her lips to his. It was electrifying and Riane could feel herself falling prey to his blissful, passionate hands. Hands that slid down her neck and around her sides. She arched her back as his rough, strong fingers gripped the back of her shirt and hugged her close to him. "Lawd." Riane laughed, wrapping her arms around his neck. "I forgot you were such a good kisser."
