Day by day Graham and I have been growing closer to the friends we were before. Day by day he's putting in effort.
We haven't had sex in over two months now. We decided to hold off for a while, to focus on our mental relationship rather than our physical one. It's hard, but so far has been worth every second, every hour, every day.
Gem and Graham have slowly worked out their differences. She still doesn't quite like him to be around her, but I suspect that is her bodies way of protecting the young in her belly. A pregnant she-wolf will usually only trust the father of the pup for protection, though it is different for everyone.
It's fascinating to be able to hear the heartbeat of my pup, of our pup. I can only imagine the amount of love it will receive by having so many people to take care of him.
I have my ear to her belly now, one hand gently rubbing her back as she eats her breakfast. Graham has yet to get out of bed. It makes me feel good that he trusts me to be with Gem like this, though I can hear the grumbles and growls of jealousy every now and again.
"Do you think you could get me some cereal?" Her pregnancy is a heathy one. I can tell by the way she eats like she's starving, like she hasn't had food in days. I'm glad that she hasn't had the horrendous morning sickness that afflicts most of the she-wolfs.
"Sure. Just wait a bit." I give her grin and make my way to the kitchen.
I'm just walking in when I spot Graham, one hand down his underwear, scratching his balls and the other tilting up the milk jug.
"Are you serious?" I have my arms crossed now, an eyebrow raised.
He looks over with the most adorable lopsided grin and quickly wipes his mouth before holding out the milk. "There's still some left."
I yank it away. "Other people are going to consume this too you know? It's not just us."
We've been living in my uncle Hux's old cabin. It's far enough away to create a sense of privacy.
His big arms wrap around me as I'm pouring what's left over Gem's favorite cereal, rice crispies with banana slices.
Lips touch my neck, right on my mark. "Well, she will never know unless you tell her now will she?" I can feel his chest shaking in silent laughter and can't hold my grin in as I slap behind me to shoo him off.
I have to hold my lips between my teeth to keep from bursting out in laughter as I hand the bowl to Gem. I feel evil doing this to a pregnant she-wolf.
She takes the first bite and Graham is cackling behind me. She gives him a glare. "What are you laughing about?" She's always grumpy when he's around and I can't really blame her. It took us a while to figure ourselves out too.
"It's nothing." I reassure her and then just when she goes to take another large bite I crack. "Graham drank out of the milk jug."
Her mouth is wide, she drops her spoon. "Really Graham? Really?" I like the fact hat she's not mad at me for giving it to her, only mad at him.
"Don't act like you haven't swallowed worse than my spit before." He give us both a wink and now it's my turn to be angry.
I growl out in jealousy. He really had to bring that up? I thought we were moving past this.
Gem tosses the almost full bowl to the coffee table before leaving the room to slam her bedroom door in place.
I give him a look.
