Chapter 8

-Meanwhile at the changeling hive castle-

In a small room, Queen Chrysalis was watching Apple Bloom, Winona, Pinkie Pie, Rarity, and Fluttershy walked down the yellow brick road through a crystall ball. She laughed sinisterly, and said "So! You won't take the warning, eh? All the worse for you, then. I'll take care of you now instead of later!" She held up a poison with her magic, and said "Hah! When I gain those ruby slippers, my power will be the greatest in all of Discorded Equestria! And now, my beauties! Something with poison in it, I think. With poison in it, but attractive to the eye, and soothing to the smell!" The image on the crystal ball turned into a field of red poppies, and she spread the poison on it with her magic as she laughed, and said "Poppies! Poppies! Poppies!"

-Meanwhile in the dark forest-

Apple Bloom, Winona, Pinkie Pie, Rarity, and Fluttershy continued walking on the yellow brick road, and they stopped at the end of the dark forest when they saw Emerald Canterlot that looked a lot like regular Canterlot, only covered in emerald gems. Apple Bloom smiled, and said "There's Emerald Canterlot! Oh, we're almost there at last! At last! It's beautiful, isn't it? Just like Ah knew it would be. She really must be a wonderful unicorn to live in a city like that!" "Well, come on then." Fluttershy said. "What are we waiting for?" "Nothing!" Pinkie Pie said. "Let's hurry!" "Yes, let's run!" Apple Bloom said as she, Winona, and their friends ran through the poppy field. "Yes." Fluttershy said. They ran and ran as Pinkie Pie said "Come on, come on!" "Hurry!" Rarity said. "Hurry, darling!" "Oh! Oh, come on, come on!" Pinkie Pie said. "Look, you can see it from here." Rarity said. "It's wonderful!" "Emerald Canterlot!" Apple Bloom tried to run faster, but she kept growing weaker due to the aroma of the poppies as she said "Oh. Oh, what's happening? What is it? Ah can't run any more. Ah'm so sleepy." Pinkie Pie and Rarity ran back to Apple Bloom as Pinkie Pie said "Here, give us your hooves, and we'll pull you along."

"Oh, no. Please. Ah have to rest for just a minute." Apple Bloom said. "Winona! Where's Winona?" Winona was lying down in the poppies, and Apple Bloom laid down as she fell asleep. Pinkie Pie began to panic as she said "Oh, you can't rest now! We're nearly there!" Fluttershy yawned as she started to get weaker by the aroma of the poppies, and said "What did she do that for?" "Hey, Apple Bloom!" Pinkie Pie said as she tried shaking Apple Bloom awake. "Apple Bloom!" Rarity said. "Apple Bloom!" Fluttershy said. "Apple Bloom!" Rarity said. "You can't sleep here! You can't sleep in the middle of a field!" Suddenly, they heard Queen Chrysalis laugh wickedly as she said "Call away! Call away! She won't hear any of you again! And there's nothing you can do about it, either." In the small room in her castle, she laughed again, looked at one of her changeling minions, and said "Bring me my wishing cap! I'll call the changelings to fetch me those slippers! Hurry! Hurry! Hurry! Hurry! It worked very smoothly!" Back in the poppy field, Rarity started crying as she said "Oh. Oh, poor Apple Bloom!" "Don't cry!" Pinkie Pie said. "You'll rust yourself again!" "Come to think of it, forty winks wouldn't be bad." Fluttershy said in a tired voice. "Don't you start it, too!" Pinkie Pie said. "Oh! We ought to try and carry Apple Bloom." Rarity said. "I don't think I could, but we could try." Pinkie Pie said. "Let's." Rarity said. "Yes." Pinkie Pie said.

They began to pick up Apple Bloom, but they stopped when they saw Fluttershy dropping to the ground, and Rarity said "Oh, now look at her! This is terrible!" "Here, Rarity, help me!" Pinkie Pie said as they tried to lift Apple Bloom, but they failed. "Oh, this is terrible!" Pinkie Pie said. "Can't budge her an inch! This is a spell, this is!" "It's the wicked changeling alicorn!" Rarity said. "What'll we do?! Help! HELP!" "It's no use screaming at a time like this!" Pinkie Pie said. "Nopony will hear you! Help!" They kept on crying for help, but nopony could hear them. Suddenly it started snowing because Princess Celestia casted a spell on the poppy field. Pinkie Pie noticed the snow as she said "Look! It's snowing!" "It isn't snowing." Rarity said. "It couldn't be!" "But it is!" Pinkie Pie said. "No it isn't!" Rarity said. "Yes it is!" Pinkie Pie said. "Oh, maybe that'll help." Apple Bloom and Winonathen started to wake up as Pinkie Pie said "It does help. Apple Bloom, you're waking up!" Apple Bloom rubbed the sleep out of her eyes as she said "Oh." Fluttershy then woke up, and said "Oh, unsual weather we're having, ain't it?" Apple Bloom looked at Rarity who rusted again, and said "Look! She's rusted again!" She looked at Pinkie Pie as she said "Oh, give me the oil can, quick! Oh, oh, quick!" "Yes, there." Pinkie Pie said as she gave Apple Bloom the oil can. "Oh. Here, quick. Oh! We'll oil her up." Apple Bloom said. As the little filly oiled Rarity up, Pinkie Pie said "A hot water bottle would be good if we had one."

"Oh, she's been crying!" Apple Bloom said. "Why have you been crying?" In the small room in her castle, Queen Chrysalis growled in anger, and said "Curse it! Curse it! Somepony always helps that filly! But shoes or no shoes, I'm still great enough to conquer her. And woe to those who try to stop me!" Back in the poppy field, Apple Bloom, Winona, Pinkie Pie, Rarity, and Fluttershy walked down hill. "Come on, let's get out of here." Apple Bloom said. "Look! Emerald Canterlot is closer and prettier than ever!" They then made their way towards Emerald Canterlot.
