Apple Bloom and Winona walked on the path to Ponyville on their way to the train station. As they walked on the bridge, Apple Bloom heard humming down below. She looked down to see a traveling wagon. She and Winona walked down, and approached the wagon. Apple Bloom looked at the sign, and said "Professor Trixter. Acclaimed by the crowned heads of Equestria. Let him read your past, present, and future through the crystal ball. Also juggling and slight of hoof." Suddenly, Professor Trixter stepped out of his wagon while carrying some food with his magic, looked at Apple Bloom and Winona, and said "Well, well, well, house guests, huh? And who might you be?" Before Apple Bloom could answer, Professor Trixter sat down by the fire, began to heat the food, and said "No, no. Now don't tell me." Apple Bloom and Winona came forward as Professor Trixter said "Let's see. You're travelling in disguise." Apple Bloom shook her head, and Professor Trixter said "No that's not right. You're going on a visit." Again, Apple Bloom shook her head, and Professor Trixter said "No, I'm wrong. You're running away. Apple Bloom nodded, and said "How did ya'll guess?"

"The great and powerful Professor Trixter never guesses. He knows!" Professor Trixter said smiling. "Now why are you running away?" "Why-." Apple Bloom tried to say, but Professor Trixter interrupted her, and said "No, no. Now don't tell me. They don't understand you at home. They don't appreciate you. You want to see other lands, big cities, big mountains, and big oceans." Apple Bloom smiled, and said "Why, it's just like ya'll could read what was inside of me!" "Yes." Professor Trixter said as he was roasting a marshmellow. "Please, Professor, why can't we go along with you?" Apple Bloom asked. Winona suddenly bit the marshmellow off the stick, and Apple Bloom scolded her as she said "Oh Winona, that's not polite! We haven't been asked yet!" Professor Trixter just laughed as he put another marshmellow on the stick, and said "She's perfectly welcome. As one dog to another, huh? Here now, let's see where were we?" He put the stick down on the left, and said "Oh yes, you wanted to go home, huh?" Apple Bloom shook her head, and said "Oh no, Ah wanted to go along with ya'll." "Oh." Professor Trixter said.

"Nopony cares about me at home." Apple Bloom said. "They wouldn't even miss me." "Aw, come, come, come-." Professor Trixter tried to say, but Apple Bloom interrupted him, and said "No they won't. Honestly." "Oh." Professor Trixter said. "Auntie Applejack was even going to let them kill Winona yesterday for biting Princess Cadence." Apple Bloom said. "Oh, please, Professor, why can't we go with ya'll, and see all the crowned heads of Equestria?" "Do you know any?" Professor Trixter asked. "Oh, you mean the thing. Yes, well, I never do anything without consulting my crystal ball first. Let's go inside here." They stood up, and went inside the wagon as Professor Trixter said "Just come along. I'll show you. There you are, right in here." Apple Bloom sat on a chair near a table with a crystal ball on it as Professor Trixter said "That's right. Here, sit right down here." He showed her the crystal ball, and said "This is the same genuine, magic, authentic, used by many great unicorn wizards such as Star Swirled The Bearded. Now, you'd better close your eyes my filly, for a moment in order to be better in tune with the infinite. We can't do these things without infinate. Yes." Apple Bloom gave the professor a picture of herself with her Uncle Big Mac and Aunt Applejack.

Professor Trixter placed the picture on a chair, and said "That's all right. Now you can open them." Apple Bloom opened her eyes as the professor said "We'll gaze into the crystal ball." They looked at the crystal ball which started to glow and project an image. "Ah, what's this I see?" Professor Trixter asked. "A farm with a picket fence, a weather vane, and of a running duck. No, it's a crowing rooster." That's Sweet Apple Acres!" Apple Bloom said. "Oh, yes." Professor Trixter said as he looked at Apple Bloom's picture, and then back at the crystal ball which started to project another image. "Yes, there's a mare. She's wearing a brown hat, and her face is careworn." "Yes. That's Aunt Applejack." Apple Bloom said. Professor Trixter nodded, and said "Indeed." Apple Bloom looked at the crystal ball, and said "What's she doing." Professor Trixter looked at the image closer, and said "Well, I can't quite see. Why, she's crying." "Oh." Apple Bloom said in fear. "Somepony has hurt her." Professor Trixter said. "Somepony has just broken her heart." "Me?" Apple Bloom asked. "Well, it's somepony she loves very much." Professor Trixter said. "Somepony she's been very kind to. Somepony she's taken care of in sickness."

"Ah had the measles once, and she stayed right by me every minute." Apple Bloom said. "Uh-huh." Professor Trixter said. Apple Bloom looked at the crystal ball, and said "What's she doing now?" Professor Trixter looked at the crystal ball, and said "Well, she's going into a little bedroom. It has poppies on the wallpaper. What's this? Why, she's putting her hoof on her heart. She's dropping down on the bed." Apple Bloom gasped in shock and horror, and said "Oh, no. No!" The crystal ball stopped glowing, and Professor Trixter said "That's all. The crystal ball has gone dark." Apple Bloom shook in fear, and said "Oh, ya'll don't suppose she could really be sick, don't ya'll? Oh, Ah've got to go home right away!" "But what's this?" Professor Trixter asked. "I thought you were going along with me." Apple Bloom shook her head, and said "Oh, no, no, Ah have to get to her right away!" She quickly grabbed her suitcase, looked at Winona, and said "Come on, Winona! Oh, what'll Ah do? If we go home, they'll send you to the sheriff. And if we don't, Aunt Applejack may die! Ah know what Ah'll do! Ah'll give ya'll to Bubble Berry. He'll watch out for ya'll. But we've got to hurry."

She looked at the professor, and said "Goodbye, Professor Trixter! And thanks a lot!" She and Winona then ran back on the path to Sweet Apple Acres, unaware of the oncoming storm. When Trixter noticed the wind blowing really hard, he said "I better get under cover. There's a storm blowing up, a whopper, to speak in the vernacular of the peasantry." When he became worried about Apple Bloom, he said "Poor little filly. I hope she gets home all right." He then went inside his wagon, and closed the door.
