Chapter 10: Understanding Part 1

     "Mika, can you hear me?" this voice sounds so warm and kind. It was a voice I knew very well; it was the voice of someone very dear to me. But who could it be? There are only a few who are close to me and even I won't admit to myself that I care about these people. Yet they know, my unspoken words tell them. This voice was calling to me, worried, wandering if I was ok. Slowly I opened my eyes, blinded by the light. "Mmm…wh..where am I?" A hand was on my shoulder trying to get me to lie down. "Mika you need to rest." My head was hurting and the light made it hard to see, in fact the light was the cause of my headache. "Turn the light off. It's giving me a headache and its hurting my eyes."
      'That's normal for half-vampires." I finally looked to see who it was that had been talking to me all this time. It was my best (annoying) friend Kenji. "What are you doing here? How did you find me? The last thing I remember was…was getting ready to fight my way out of that place." Kenji looked at me, like I said something wrong. I wanted to leave right away before he had the chance to ask me a lot of questions. Unfortauly I was in no shape to leave, Kenji got me to calm down enough that he could explain everything. By the end of it all I was in shock, there's no way my vampire side awakened. It did explain what had been happening to me lately. "Mika, you have to do this. There's no other way." Kenji told me in order to control my blood cravings, as he so nicely put it. I have one of two chooses: one find a familiar (someone who I could get blood from if needed) this is what older vampires use to do. Second was to drink blood tablets, which is what most of the younger vampires do until they leave the academies. There are other options once I graduate, but for now these are my chooses. 
     "Kenji, I don't care what you say. I'm not going to or ever drink blood, even if it's fake. You know how I feel about vampires. This is what I was trying to avoid, my vampire side has awakened. The side I curse I was born with, my witch side is the one I want. Now the chance to seal this side away is gone." Kenji looked at me; he knew what happened when I was young. I was attacked and bitten by a vampire, for a short time that bite released some of my memories and powers. Even though I love both sides of my family, I swore that I would never become a beast that had to fed on others to survive.
