Becca POV
A long while later we lay in each other's arms ready for sleep. I had coaxed Blade to eat but he only ate the soup which was still warm.
'You said you wanted to talk?' Blade said eventually as we lay there with the moon casting a glow into the room so it was not too dark.
'Maybe tomorrow, I'm a bit too drained to discuss any heavy matters now.' I said not wanting to get up out of his arms.
'Why did you really torture me Becca?' Blade asked suddenly.
I stilled in his arms. What should I say? I guess he deserved to know the truth.
'I thought you were a rogue who had attacked us earlier that day, our main housekeeper, Beth lost her son that day. He was all she had since her mate had died in an accident three years before.' I was fiddling with my hands. 'He was only ten years old and they tortured that poor kid before they slit his throat.'
'I guess I wanted revenge.' I responded. I had been very angry and Blade had fallen into my hands at the wrong time.
Blade did not say anything. I turned to face him. He was staring at me.
'I know I was really cruel to you back then but I was really angry about Nina losing her son. He was a good pup and her only child. Nina had always believed me even if I was full on.' I looked at Blade who was wearing a chilled expression. 'I do apologise for my behaviour then. I was wrong.'
I looked at my mate he was tired and conflicted.
'Don't worry you have a lifetime to make up for it.' Blade smiled and a sense of peace enveloped me as Blade tightened his hold and we drifted off into a peaceful sleep.
I awoke to the sun's rays peeking through the heavy curtains. I turned onto my back and noticed I was alone. Blade was already up. I opened my eyes to see him getting dressed.
'Morning.' I said getting up to use the bathroom and realising that it was barely five o'clock.
'Morning.' Blade responded pulling on a pair of dark jeans.
Sleeping in Blade's arms had been so satisfying and serene. After our talk I felt better about us. I went to the bathroom and stared at the mark on my neck; it was glowing and hurting slightly.
I walked back to the bedroom and crawled back to the bed while Blade was looking at the books I had taken from the library.
'These books look ancient, Myths and Legends? Did you get the information about the glass from these books?' He asked picking up one and flipping through it.
'Yeah, actually there are quite a few interesting articles in there about the valcans.' I told him.
'Show me.' He directed picking up the books and placing them on the bed. He sat in his jeans and a white v neck t shirt next to me as I sat up with my back against the headboard.
'Aren't you going to dry your hair properly?' I asked him looking at the droplets of water on the tips of his hair.
He touched his hair and shrugged.
'You will get a cold, you should--' he held up his hand, cutting me off.
'Let's look at these first.' he said arranging himself beside me.
I looked at him angrily scooting away to get a dry towel from the closet as I knelt next to him, 'I do not want you to get sick especially now with things so dicey.'
