So, another chapter for ya’ll! This is the… 18th? Yeah, eighteenth.

Making a fourth doctor style scarf (such a pain to knit a scarf that is as tall as you in a course of three months!)

“So, first we need some shabti to help with the fight,” Kaysen said as she pushed the cart through Wal-mart. Her ginger hair was up in a braid done by Amy, who remarked how she would of loved to do that to River growing up.

Shabti?” Chased asked, his hands in his pockets. He was finally getting over the fact Rome had captured most of Camp.

“Little clay servants that give you pizza if they’re tall,” Nakia explained, looking at a coloring book.

“Nakia, can you get us some construction paper?” Kaysen asked pointing down the aisle.

Nakia and Annika looked at each other, then began to sprint in a race to beat the other.

Despite the seven year difference in their ages, Nakia had taken Annika under her wind. A flash of something went through Kaysen’s mind of the two girls having their arms around each other, smiles wide upon their face. Annika looked about thirteen, Nakia about twenty.

“Anything else we should get besides play-doh?” Noah asked.

“Jewelry making stuff for Walter. And stuff for Leo. Perferably flammable. Purell or Germ-X would do.”

The two boys stared at her like she was crazy. Why would Leo need hand sanitizer?

Kaysen was in charge of weapons, with the assistance of Nakia, Annika, Noah, and Chase. Eon was in charge of provisions for that night, and tomorrow. She had the rest of the group from the airport, much to Kaysen’s irritation.

Amy and Rory, with the assistance of their daughter, were gathering materials to make a few more sonic screwdrivers. They’ll make as many as possible before nightfall the next day.

“So… jewelry stuff. Like what?”

Kaysen scratched her head. “Bendable metal, pliers, and a ball of yarn.”

Noah set out to do that. Chase asked what he should get, and she gave him instructions that sent him chasing around the store for the better part of an hour.

Annika handed Kaysen the construction paper. Quickly she was asked if she could grab the Sharpies out front.

“Good choice on use of Egyptian magic, Kaysen,” Nakia complimented before setting out after the younger girl.

A plan of attack was already forming in Kaysen’s mind.

Everyone sat around the table coloring. All the children under eighteen that had tagged along were told to draw their best people.

Kaysen was the exception, much to Devraj’s amazement. Why did a lowly mortal get to plan battles, while he was forced to draw stick figures next to a kindergartener?

He understood that if you draw people after putting a specific hieroglyphic in the corner of the page, then you can summon them at any moment of tine. But never in the past had he actually need to do something like that.

“Devraj!” Kaysen yelled from the living room. “We need your opinion on something!”

Finally, his opportunity to show that he should be there helping them, not drawing like a pitiful seven year-old girl. (No offense seven year-old girls!)

“Devraj,” Carter said, picturing the name in his head. “Does this jacket look like something you’d wear?”

Devraj didn’t know what to say. He stared at the navy blue wind breaker, then at his own. He nodded, disappointed in what they had wanted from him. He shuffled back to his chair and sat.

Three days until he would need to leave.

Sorry if this feels like a filler chapter! It’s important later on, you’ll see.
