In 1984 Michael Jackson was signed to promote Pepsi through a series of commercials and tours. Even though this caused his first major life threatening injury, he continued to work with Pepsi and donated the money given to him as compensation for his head burns. The relationship ended in 1993, when the Jordan Chandler allegations of child molestation came out.

In 2001, Britney filmed several commercials for Pepsi, but lost the sponsorship because she was photographed drinking Coca-Cola.

Neither Michael nor Britney actually liked the taste of Pepsi. Both preferred Coca-Cola.

A stewardess came up with the idea to serve Michael alcohol in Coca-Cola cans when he was around minors or his own children so they wouldn't be aware of his drinking.

In 2011, Pepsi launched a commercial with Michael, Britney and Mariah Carey. Michael was seen performing with his signature white socks.
