I wake up, seeing that I'm in mostly darkness. I give my eyes a few minutes to adjust, and see I'm in a cell. I see silver bars in front of me, which are probably covered in wolfsbane (not like it would affect me anyways). I notice my hands are cuffed, and I see that with silver chains, I'm attached to the wall. Realizing what's going on, I begin to shake in fear.

"Good. You're awake," I hear a man say. "I have questions and I expect honest answers." My eyes finally adjust, and I can see a man on the other side of the cell wall. He's wearing gloves, and he unlocks my cell door. He comes in, and he's holding a whip with glass shards in it. I bow my head, being submissive and showing him respect.

"Let's start simple. What is your name?"

"Brooke Summers," I croak, now realizing how dry my throat is.

"Why are you in Silver Bone territory?" I freeze.

I'm in Silver Bone's territory. They're the strongest pack in the world, and I trespassed into their land. There's no doubt in my mind they'll kill me.

I suddenly let out a scream, coming back to reality as the whip hits my back.

"Answer the damn question!" The man roars.

"I ran from New Moon," I answer. I feel the whip once again.

"Give me the truth!" He demands.

"I swear it's the truth!"I shriek as I feel the whip once again, this time, the glass digging into my shoulder.

"Enough!" I hear from another man. I suddenly smell an intoxicating scent. The woods, right after rain, when everything is still smelling fresh, and a hint of chocolate. He comes into the cells, and it felt like the whole world stopped.

In front of me, was a man with milk-chocolate hair, blue eyes, and a sharp jawline.

I could tell in that moment, I had met him.

My mate.
