Natalie is suddenly pushed to the side, and I see the alpha. He begins to rush towards me, and I scoot back, hitting the back of the bed. I curl up, pulling my knees to my chest and hiding my face in them, while covering my head with my arms.

I hear the Alpha freeze.

"Brooke?" He asks. His voice isn't loud. It's almost as if he's scared or nervous. I can't gather the strength a courage to look at him, so I just stay in my ball.

I suddenly feel a hand on my shoulder and it makes me flinch. But it wasn't even really a flinch, it was more like a jump. Regardless, the hand was gone a moment later.

"B-Brooke?" His voice is now a whimper, and he almost sounds... concerned?

I push the thought aside, and just stay there, not moving, hoping I'll somehow be absorbed by the mattress.

"Peter, Natalie, can I have a few moments alone with my mate?" I begin to shake at the thought of being alone with him.

"Of course Alpha. I'm going to go get some food for her," Peter says. I hear to sets of footsteps leave the room, and I feel tears welling in my eyes.

"Brooke-"

"Please don't hurt me," I whimper. He stops, and I can feel his stare on me.

"Brooke, please look at me," he pleads. I hesitantly pull my arms away from my head and look up. The Alpha sits down in the chair next to my bed, close to where my torso was when I was laying down, which causes me to scoot away from him in fear. He looks at me, with emotions almost like regret, guilt, and heartbreak. I bow my head, being submissive towards him.

"I'm sorry," he says. I don't do anything. I just stare at my hands, which are wrapped tightly around my legs.

"You didn't deserve that. I was an ass and a horrible mate. I was just pissed that my mate was a rouge, and more so because we could tell you have Alpha Blood, but we couldn't sense your wolf, and-"

"I don't have one," I whisper.

"What?"
