Your POV~

Frisk was in his room doing his homework while you were watching the news. You saw Kate Milo doing a report on monsters. You saw pictures of the little creatures smiling and waving. Then, you suddenly remembered something.

‘You turned on the tv and instantly, you knew things were bad. People were already getting angry over the fact that the monsters were here. There were images and videos of small monsters being spit on, threatened, bullied, and beaten almost to death. You instantly turned the channel to some cooking show. You turned to see a figure looking down, his hands covering his face.

You wanted to help your friend. You side hugged him and rubbed his arm.

“???…” you spoke gently and kindly, but you couldn’t remember the name.

The figure wrapped both of his arms around you and placed his head on your shoulder. You heard whimpers and sniffling. He was crying.

“It's okay, ???,” you whispered.

“N-no it's not,” he sobbed. “Why did they hurt them? I-I know they didn't d-do anything wrong. A-and what if they t-treat me like-”

“They won't,” you told him patting his back, “some people are just cruel.”

“I'm glad that you aren't,” ??? stopped hugging you and sat up to reveal black streaks falling from his eyes.

Oil, it was oil, and it was on your shirt. ??? sniffed. “Sorry about that.”

You smiled and wiped the excess oil tears from his eyes. He smiled at you and gave you another hug.

“We’ll get through this, together, I promise,” you whispered to him.’

“Mom?! Are you okay?” you heard Frisk call your name.

“Huh? Oh, I’m fine, yeah,” you rubbed your head.

“What happened?”

“I…I don’t know, I just remember sitting on this couch watching the news…but there was someone with me,” you told Frisk. “Someone male, he was crying and I comforted him…I don’t know who it was.”

“Can you describe him?” Frisk asked.

“I’m afraid not, sorry.”

Frisk pondered the information for awhile. He came up with the conclusion that you were remembering parts of the previous timeline. The timeline where you and Mettaton were together. He just couldn’t figure out why you couldn’t get all of the details together.

“Hmm…maybe it’s just deja vu,” Frisk made up an excuse.

“But…who’s the person?” You questioned.

“Do you think it was dad?” Frisk asked.

“I don't think so. He wouldn't cry over monsters being hurt,” you said.

“What about Mettaton? He seems to be fond of monsters, I mean they are his fans.”

“I dunno, maybe…wait, the tears. There was something…odd about the tears. They weren't watery…they were oily, like motor oil.”

“Robots usually cry oil tears,” Frisk hinted.

“Weird, why would I comfort that stupid robot?!”

“Maybe you used to be friends, close friends.”

“Over my dead body. That guy’s a jerk,” you growled.

“You didn't even get to know him.”

“I don't need to. Anyone that messes with my boyfriend is a jerk.”

Frisk sighed. He couldn't get you to change your mind about Mettaton. He walked back to finish his homework.

Mettaton’s POV~

I was laying in bed alone watching tv when my built in cell phone rang.

“Hello?” I answered.

“M-Mettaton! You actually a-answered,” I heard Alphys cheer.

“Hey, Alphys. How are you?” I asked.

“How are you?! It’s b-been awhile since I’ve l-last heard from you! Wh-where have you been?” she sounded so concerned.

“I’m okay, Al, I promise. I just need some time to myself.”

“Two w-weeks, Mettaton. Two weeks.”

“Well…it's hard for me, okay?”

“Your c-cousin came o-over the other day and t-told me about your d-depression. You need help, Mettaton, this isn't h-healthy.”

“Alphys, I swear, I'm fine. I just need more time to recover from my loss…”

“Mettaton, what are you talking about? You never lost anyone! Get a life!” I heard Undyne screech in the background.

“L-look, I’m sending S-Sans over to t-talk to you, alright? He t-told me he c-could help you w-with your problem,” Alphys stated.

“But Alphy-” I started to whine.

“No buts, Mettaton, this w-will be g-good for you.”

Before I could reply again, Alphys hung up and the doorbell rang. I groaned as I dragged myself out of bed and opened the door.

“heya, mettaton,” Sans greeted.

“Ugh, whatever Alphys sent you to do, I don’t feel up to it,” I complained.

“exactly, i know how you feel about losing (y/n) and no one remembering you two were together…i’ve experienced the same thing with my love,” Sans stated. “if you need a shoulder bone to cry on, i’m always here. it’s okay to let go and-”

I interrupted him as I hugged Sans and started crying on his shoulder. I felt him hug me back and pat my back saying, “it's okay, just let it all out. that's what i’m here for.”

“It's just, it's so hard to see her with him and not with me,” I cried. “I miss her smile, her laugh, her hugs, her kisses. I miss cooking for her, cuddling with her, relaxing with her by my side. And…I was going to be a father.”

I sniffled and stopped hugging the skeleton.

“why don't you try rekindling your relationship?” Sans asked.

“She hates me for what I did to Zach. We got off to a bad start.”

“heh. so did we, metalhead, but that didn't stop you from trying to be my friend.”

“I guess you're right…but, I’m afraid that she might reject me…I can't feel that pain again,” I sighed while frowning. “I don't like the feeling of being rejected.”

“nobody likes the feeling, but we all get rejected. and when you do get rejected, you keep going, keep trying. you'll get her eventually.”

“Thanks, Sans,” I smiled.

“no problem, i had to talk some sans  into you,” he winked.

“Did you have to?” I complained.

“yes, now go make friends, lover bot,” Sans pushed me out the door.

Well, I may as well try. The worst she can do is say no, right?
