Izaya POV
With Namie in my arms, I stroll to Shinra's place. She's breathing, so there's no particular hurry to get there and frankly my ankle wasn't feeling very good from when I had carelessly slipped.
I drop Namie in front of Shinra's door, ring the doorbell, and make a run for it. There's nothing I would hate more than to have Shinra mocking me for showing compassion.
As I make my way back to my apartment, I make a stop at Russia Sushi. Simon is standing out front as always, passionately advertising the unique Russian-Japanese cuisine. When he spotted me, he grins, showing a charming large white smile.
"Izaya!" He exclaims.
"Yo, Simon~ How's it goin'?" I respond, genuinely pleased to be able to speak to Simon again. He was a pleasant acquaintance to have even if he constantly ends the fun that I have with Shizu-chan.
"Good, good," he nods. "Want sushi? It good!"
"Sure," I say.
He walked with me inside the restaurant and quickly went in the kitchen to prepare my regular order.
Simon hands me a plate of otoroo, glad to have a customer, I imagine, and I finish it quickly."Why did Namie help me..." I think to myself out loud. "She has no motive...except for...right, I'm the one who pays her."
Fidgeting in my seat I check my cellphone for any news, clients, etc.
"Ah...Shizuo-" I hear Simon stutter.
"Mm?"
Shizu-chan~!
"Now is not time to be here," Simon says uncomfortably. "Maybe next ti-"
"Shizu-chan??" I exclaim. "What a coincidence!"
Sorry Simon.
I turn and see Shizuo standing in the doorway with Tom and a blonde girl...Vorona I think her name is. She glares at me threateningly.
"Not now, Izaya," she warns.
But we can all tell that Shizu-chan is ready to snap, which makes me giggle internally.
"Shizuo," Vorona pleads. "Don't do this."
"Yeah," I add. "Don't do this, Shizu-chan."
I can see the vein in his forehead from here!
"DIE," he explodes. Grabbing a pillar from the restaurant ceiling, he swings it in my directions like a monster. Lucky for me, I'm not afraid of monsters and I dodge.
"Ooh, scary!" I mock.
He doesn't give up, relentlessly swinging object after object attempting to hit me. I don't, of course, get hit. But I feel my ankle, needles of pain swelling up. It wasn't as bad at first but another few minutes in and it began pounding against my leg.
Shizuo screams and easily lifts a vending machine in the air. With a glare of death, he prepares to throw it. But instead, Vorona throws herself onto him, which makes him- and me- stop in our tracks.
"No, Shizuo," she says. "Don't fight a wounded opponent."
"You're a little dramatic today, aren't you?" I laugh.
"Wounded?" Shizuo repeats.
They aren't talking about my ankle are they?
"I don't know what you're talking about," I say. "And frankly I'm offended. Bring it on, Shizu-chan."
Instead, the monster sets the vending machine down. Looking at Vorona, and then me, he lowers his gaze.
"That's enough," he says, much more gently than he should've been in this situation. He looks at me one last time with a half guilty, half gentle expression, and then walks out, Vorona and Tom following behind him.
I pant and sink down to check on my ankle. Vorona had known something was different about me...how could Shizuo not tell? And the way she threw herself against him...
I grit my teeth, now willing to show my temper. If Shizuo wanted to kill me, let him kill me.
Simon stood in the corner of the room holding up the wreckage of the restaurant. I decide to make a run for it while he's distracted.
"Damn you, Vorona," I mutter. "Ruining my fun with my Shizu-chan again..."
I clench my fists as the image of Vorona clinging to Shizu-chan popped into my mind. Shoving my fists into my pocket, I head home.
