Chill out
What you yellin' for
Lay back
Its all been done before

"Wait. You can't see her?" I ask my mom.

Not wanting for her to answer because I already know the answer.

She slowly shakes her head as a worried expression creeps into her features.

I turn around to loot at Katy, who is laughing her head off by now.

My face morphs into a scowl as I shoot daggers with my eyes at her. Switching my gaze between my mom and Katy.

The confusion on my mom's face would have been hilarious if I was not so angry.

"Why me, Katy? Why?!" I snap.

"Where is that witch of a women anyway, because I have a few things I would like to say to her!" I say as my voice gets louder and louder.

"This has to all be some friggin nightmare! Thats it!" I exclaim. Just trying to give myself a logical reason to be acting so crazy.

"Why me!" I ask her again. "I tried for five years to get the images of Layla, the blood, the gun in her hand, all of that out of my mind, but noo, the creepy old women decided that she should give me that stupid book!" I scream at the top of my voice.

I am excruciatingly mad now. I feel like steam is flying out of my ears and my face is as hot as the sun.

"And on top of all of this I'v got some psychopath called Slater sending his talking gladiator wolves to take me into custody." I continue to ramble on.

"Oh, lets not forget the facts that you now want me to pack up everything and leave because 'all roads lead to Texas'!" I say in a sarcastic voice at the end.

By now I'm exhausted and I fall to my knees, burying my face in my hands.

Not to cry.

Definitely not.

I sat there on my knees letting everything sink in.

The past two weeks, or past twenty minutes for that matter.

'Why did she give me that book?' I ask myself this question over and over again in my mind.

Suddenly a voice speaks up in a soft tone as I feel a hand on my shoulder. "Because you are The Keeper." Katy's whispers into my ear.

"All will be revealed in time to come, Kevin. Right now we need to leave." She says as urgency creeps through her voice.

"Your scent is already strong enough in this town as it is. They will come here and take away everything you care about. I know its hard to leave it all behind, but it's either that or they all die." She states with a sense of pity.

"Your choice." Is all she says as she backs away.

I look up and notice my mom with an expression I can't quite identify.

Just then she pulls out her phone and dials a number.

"Don't hate me Kevin. I have to do this." She whispers as a tear runs down her pink tinted cheek.

She holds the phone to her ear and begins to change form.

Her once black hair turns bleach white. Her skin starts to pale more and more by the second until she is so pale its as if she is walking dead. Her face starts to visibly become younger until she looks to be nineteen.

Her clothes turn crystal blue as they changes into a skinny knee length dress with heels that look to be plain crystal.

'If this wasn't my mom I would say she looks kinda hot.' My inner conscious says.

I shake my head to get rid my mind of that thought as I stare at my mom, completely flabbergasted.

The phone eventually stops ringing and the other line picks up.

"No way!" Katy disbelievingly mutters behind me.

Slight confusion passed through me as she begins to speak through the phone.

"Slater, he is here with me." My mom says through the phone.

"Then finish him and bring him here, to me." Slater's monstrously deep voices says coldly through the phone.

Tears start to overflow out of her eyes and onto her face, coming out in the form of snowflakes.

With a swift move she points her hand towards me, from which ice comes shooting out of her hands towards me.

In an act of defense I lift my hands in front of me as if to stop the ice when I hear the sound of a crackling fire.

Looking around for the source if the noise my mouth drops  to the floor when I see my arms are on fire, instantly melting the ice.

'How does this not hurt?' I think as I watch in awe.

I pulled my arms away to find my mom gone.

I looked to the floor to find a large puddle of water with clothes and shoes laying in it.

Realization as to what happened hits me like a bus.

"I melted her..." I whisper
