While Elixir was away I managed to secure an appointment with the Managing Director of Franks Pharmaceuticals.
"Good Afternoon Mrs Mackenzie"
"Call me Terri"
"Ok Terri.....how may I assist you?"
"I would like to talk to you about a product that your company is manufacturing"
"Which one is that"
"Hexachromite AB12"
"Oh yes.....the sexuality drug"
"I wouldn't have put it like that.....Im now a former Doctor and our surgery was one of those that trialled its use"
"Ok I get that......what information can I help you with?"
"Im involved in a court case of which this drug is evidence....of the other surgeries....do you have statistics on success and failure rates?"
He went across to a cabinet, opened it and extracted a slim folder....inside was a variety of sheets all headlined with the name of the drug.....he looked at one of the papers and handed it to me.
I was shocked.....twelve surgeries had trialled the drug and none had reported any side effects.
"No side effects at all?"
"None.....what was you expecting?"
"Hypnosis.....bad vision experiences.....headaches"
"Nope.....nothing like that.....we had reports of sickness and some people being unable to swallow but nothing serious"
This information would be very useful.....I had to know why the batch for our surgery was contaminated.
"Can I take a copy of this......for evidence?"
"Yes.....that will be fine"
I had one more mission.
"Is it possible to speak to Paul Franks?"
"I take it you don't know about his most recent court appearance?"
"No....what was that then?"
"Missing chemicals.....abuse of position and misappropriation of funds"
"I see"
"Yes......he is no longer with the company"
"But the name"
"Will be changed at our convenience.....he was found not guilty of those charges but he upset quite a lot of people.....including myself"
So he had been almost struck off and was accused of stealing chemicals.....maybe they had been used in the manufacture and it just happened that the batch for our surgery was the ones he had deliberately messed with.....could it be that Paul Franks had a grudge against me too?
At least I would have the details of the surgeries to take to the appeal.
