I had to prepare everyone for the real possibility that I could be going to prison….this was devastating enough but it didn’t look good in the long run….was there a miracle waiting to save me?
I was about to grab a coffee when Arthur stopped me.
“You got a minute Terri?”
“Yes…..is everything ok?”
“I just wanted to say sorry for my line of questioning”
“Its ok…..I expected it”
“I know it sounds like an interrogation but the court must know all the facts about the misuse of the pills…..we had to admit to that at least…..but I have some good news”
“Whats that?”
“I got the results back from the tests on the pills…..I cant tell you what the results are but it was quite surprising”
I was sure that Arthur was not allowed to tell me that but I was grateful.
“I need to question Jessica and Paul… then I will sum up my information……the judge will then retire to consider”
“Any thoughts at this stage?”
“Its too early to say but the evidence from Paul Franks will be important”
I looked at my watch…..my friend was late.
“Just one last thing Terri”
“Whats that?”
“Jessica is a witness for the defence so my questions to her will be quite strong….I hope she can handle it”
“To be honest I should care…..but I don’t…..she brought this on herself”
“Ok…..well I did warn you”
As I walked back into the court room I felt a hand grab my shoulder.
“Tut tut Terri…..you have been a naughty girl…..dont worry…..it will soon be over”
I didn’t answer…..I couldn’t show her any weakness.
