Obsession (Sequel to : The Doctor Will See You Now)

Ingestion

“I call my next witness…..Jessica MacKenzie”

After the formalities with the oath the case continued.

Chloe moved forward to the stand.

“Can you confirm that you were in possession of a quantity of the drug Hexachromite that was left lying on a bench by Terri MacKenzie”

She looked across at me…..I nodded.

“Yes…..I took them to give to my friend Brooklyn”

“For what purpose?”

“Brooklyn had an appointment at the surgery and she was going to take them for me”

“And did she?”

“I don’t know”

“Did you come into contact with the drug at any other time?”

“Yes”

“Can you explain to the court the circumstances?”

“I was having problems with my studies…..I spoke to the principal…Catherine Baker….I made an arrangement with her to get some good grades”

“And what did she suggest?”

“That I give one of the pills to Elixir Johanssen and subdue her”

“And did you do this?”

“Yes I did”

“And did Catherine Baker improve your grades”

“No she never…..it was a ploy to get Elixir to drop her threats”

“Threats?”

“Yes……..she accused Catherine of using students for sex”

I was listening to this with grave concern….Chloe was using Jessica….she had admitted to using the drug for an ulterior motive….it had been turned around to look as though it was done for her own sexual gain.

I stood up to argue but Arthur looked across at me….Chloe turns to me.

“Do you want to say something?”

I sat back down.

“You may leave the witness box”

Jessica was in tears….I could only hope that this didn’t go against us….if Chloe had any swing with the Judge then Jessica could face some charges….I knew for a fact that I already would.

“I call Sharon Hegarty”

I looked to see a stout woman enter the witness box….I had no idea who she was.

“For the record…..can you confirm who you are and your role in this business”

“I am the Governor of the prison…..I am here to report the physical state of the prisoner Catherine Baker”

“Ok…..please give your report”

“Well she has been a model prisoner….there have been no attempts made to try and escape or incite riot…..I believe she is coping well inside….from talks with the counsellor it is clear that Catherine is innocent of the crime she was imprisoned for”

“I am showing exhibit ‘c’….two white pills which were uncovered in prisoners belongings”

“What do you think these pills might be?”

“Im just speculating maybe something to calm the nerves”.

“You may leave the stand”.

I watched as this woman left the stand….she went and stood next to Catherine…..they were talking and laughing.

“So madame Judge I would like to sum up the case for the defence”

“Go ahead”

“We have received testimony from three witnesses…..A drug which was delivered to the surgery and was misused by Terri MacKenzie….a sample of the drug found its way into the hands of Jessica Mackenzie who used one of them to subdue Elixir Johanssen....two tablets were found in the belongings of Catherine Baker…..I surmise that Catherine Baker was given some of the drug and used it….Therefore her actions were not her own…..every action has had an equal and opposite reaction….all started from the time that the drug left her possession”

She took a breather and a drink from water.

“The circumstances by which the drug became a date rape drug is unknown but the tests which the court will perform will show the presence of rohypnol”

The judge stood up.

“We will now take a recess for one hour lunch….upon return the prosecution will be able to question the witnesses and produce their own…..and then the results of the tests will be known”
