Blankets on her, eyes that are wide open, Kayla failed to get a single blink of sleep ever since her encounter with Brenton earlier.

After both of them proclaimed of their somewhat promise to each other, Kayla's mind would drift off to a different thought-it wasn't a mere promise, but a bit of confession from Brenton, says her nagging brain at her.

She lets out a loud, audible groan as she pulled the sheets on to her head. There was this foreign, disturbing but comfortable feeling that would tug her insides. Somehow,  she couldn't help but feel a bit hopeful of his words. For what even?  She doesn't know.

How could she even feel something like this when she doesn't even had the slightest idea why?

Shaking her head,  she exhaled a deep sigh and made herself comfortable on the soft, cottony sheets and silently prayed that she would be able to shut her eyes even for a few minutes. But of course, she miserable failed.

Her school routine was back again since it was the fresh start of the week-Monday. As the cliché girl she seldomly was,  she woke up with furrowed brows and a grim frown on her face. It wasn't that she hated Mondays. It was because of school. I mean, why would classes start at a bloody time of 7:30am? That's too dreadful. She mentally saluted the girls who would rise from their bed with a huge smile on their faces, ready to start their Monday.

If there were any.

She stood up with a grunt as she shimmered her way to her vanity desk. On the reflection of her mirror, her hair looked like it just ran a ten-mile marathon. Resisting the urge to return and jump back on her comfortable sheets, she made her way to the a bathroom and rinsed her mouth which reeked of her morning breath before she sauntered her way to the kitchen to prepare an energizing breakfast to start her day.

She grabbed a box of Frosty Flakes and poured a generous amount in her glass bowl with milk. She then prepped herself a banana and strawberry smoothie before proceeding with her hearty meal. As she pleasured herself with her food, she mingled with her phone checking for notifications, most especially her messages if ever they remembered to contact her every now and then. But to her dismay, her inbox was still contained messages from her friends, most especially from Gretchen. Not a single note or even a missed call from her own dear parents.

She closed her eyes as she relaxed her accelerating heart through deep breaths. No, she refused to let her weakness get through her.  Goddamnit Kayla, it has been two years already. Get over it already. She mentally chanted.

After she devoured every single bit of her breakfast, she sped her way to her bathroom and locked the door as she drowned herself in tears and the cold water from the shower.

Brenton felt that his heart would explode any moment with its continuous erratic beating. God, he didn't expect that Kayla would agree that to his stupid words yesterday. Though it may be stupid, it meant something huge to him.

It felt like it was deja vu for him since here he was in the classroom, secretly grinning as he stared intensely at the wooden door, expecting for the adorable caramel-haired girl to walk in and greet him with that breathtaking smile of hers.

Brenton couldn't help but glance at his watch every now and then. He was a bit puzzled as to why Kayla hasn't arrived since it was almost the start of the first period. He suddenly felt clammy as a wave of worriedness washed through him. He knew that Kayla was an ever good girl and she never dared to be late even just for a second.
