Chapter 5: An unexpected reunion

"Listen up, little girl", he said. "You made a huge mistake attacking my son."

"He attacked me first", I replied. I sounded scared because I was. This guy was massive, he was at least 2,5 meters tall.

"I don't care. You attacked my son and you're going to pay for it. Hraaargh."

He swung at me with his massive forearm, easily shattering the rock I sat on as I barely got away.

"You're pretty fast, huh. Try and dodge this."

He threw another punch, but I leapt out of the way. However, I was helpless in mid air and he took advantage of that by swatting me out of the air like a fly. I landed hard and coughed up some blood, but I got back up and was ready to dodge some more attacks. I had to come up with a strategy, and fast.

"You're a tough one, aren't ya? Most people would have died after that. Don't worry, you won't suffer for long"

He then leapt at me, ready to finish me off, but I slid between his legs, placed my hands on the ground and kicked him in the back of his knees. I smiled and turned around, but my smile rapidly decayed into a look of horror when I saw he was still standing. And the worst part is the fact that he didn't even seem to feel it.

"Do you realize now, kid", he asked me. "You can't beat me. Taking down my son was a mistake. Prepare to pay for it."

I shook my head in disbelief, fell down to my knees and closed my eyes. I then told him: "You better make it quick and painless."
There was nothing I could do to beat this guy.

If felt the wind brush past me as he threw a fist at me. However,...
All of a sudden it stopped and nothing seemed to happen. So, I decided to open my eyes and look up, only to see the most incredible scene I've ever witnessed.

My dad was standing in front of me.
He had protected me.
He had stopped Barry's father's punch with ease.
It seems he's even stronger than I thought.

"What the hell do you think you're doing, Kuma?", my dad said, he sounded angry.

"I was thinking the same thing", Kuma replied. "This little brat attacked and beat up my son."

"That little brat is my daughter, who just fell down a cliff."

They then both seemed to relax before shaking hands.

"Good to see you again, Grant", Kuma said. "Where's Nicole?"

"She's waiting up ahead, guarding the supplies."

"Well, you sure did arrive right on time."
He laughed

"Not at all", my dad also started laughing. "I was observing from behind a large rock all this time."

He then turned towards me.
"You're a good fighter, especially if you managed to take out Barry, and you seem to know when an opponent is just too strong. However, just giving up was not a correct option. You should have started looking for a way out. Remember that."
He patted me on the head and beckoned me as he walked back to where I supposed mom was.

"May we meet again, old friend", Kuma yelled as we departed.

"I have a feeling we will", my father replied.
