"What the hell do you mean", my dad exclaimed in anger. "How can they BE the council? That makes no sense."
"Oh, but it does", as the mayor spoke I noticed how he seemed to get angry. Or perhaps he was all along and just now started to show it. "You see, other than me, the entire council is made up of either members of the Bloody Smile Corporation, or they've been bribed by them. The only reason why I'm still in the council is because all of their assassination attempts have failed thus far."
"You must be pretty strong then", I said happily. "The guys who came after my parents were pretty strong. It's a good thing mom and dad were a lot stronger."
"So they came after you...", the mayor seemed to be lost in thought before he snapped out of it, scratched the back of his head and said: "Oh, I'm sorry, I haven't even properly introduced myself yet. My name is Bernard Samuel Anderson and I'm the mayor of Mountington. Nice to meet you."
"I'm Grant Jay", dad replied before pointing at mom. "This is my wife, Nicole Azoff and this...", he then patted me on the head. "Is my daughter, Sarah Jay. We came here to find and take out the Bloody Smile Corporation."
"So, you guys are with the government", he said. There was hesitation and uncertainty in his voice.
"Not at all", my mother took the word this time. "They came after us and well, just like old times, we prefer to take the fight to our enemies. That's why we're here, besides you mentioned they failed to assassinate you. I take it you're pretty strong as well."
"Every town on this godforsaken planet has the same story", it seemed he was going to give quite the explanation. "Not everyone who lived here was a great warrior, so there were some people who wanted a safe haven, a place where they didn't have to fear for their lives all the time. Then there were some powerful warriors who proclaimed themselves mayor of a certain area. They set up safe havens, which they called towns, by threatening to kill anyone who tries to attack a citizen of that town. Therefor, all mayors, including myself, are very powerful." I called it.
"That's an awesome story, Bernard", I told him. "That proves that there are also plenty of good, powerful people."
"That's right kid", he smiled but he quickly seemed to lose his confidence and became hesitant. "So, if you're after the Corporation, may I ask of you... Will you help me murder the council?" After seeing the shocked looks on our faces he explained why he asked this question: "Look, I tried everything to rid this town of corruption, but it just didn't work out. Killing them is the only option. I-"
"Don't sweat it", my dad exclaimed with a big smile on his face, he had the tendency to do that in an attempt to cheer people up. "We'll help you."
I looked at my dad with a confused look but then my mom said: "Of course we will. We didn't get sent to this planet because we're know for fighting fair and playing by the rules, but at the end of the day we get things done."
"I guess I have no choice then", as I said that they all looked at me with a look of confusion on their face as if they expected me to just stand back and watch. "hey, I'm a lot stronger than I look you know. And I'm not afraid of taking a couple of lives or getting blood on my hands!"
"It's okay darling- ", my dad patted me on the head again but I swatted his hand away.
"NO", I told them angrily. "I WILL HELP YOU!"
