Kick the Dust Up

Chapter 19

     So it has been almost six months since Alene and Luke got back together and they were stronger than ever. Luke was in his third month on his Kill the Lights tour and currently stationed at Charlotte, NC. He was walking around on stage doing his first sound check before the show. But something was off and he couldn't focus right. Soon Carter came up to him to finally get to the bottom of it. "Hey man, you okay? You look lost." Luke shook his head "Yeah, I'm fine... Just something about this place reminds me of something but I just can not put my finger on it" Carter looked at him and patted his shoulder "Well, whatever is going on in that head of yours, I hope it comes out because you need to pull yourself together before tonight" Luke nodded his head and thanked him as he soon left the stage still trying to figure what was about that place.

While Luke was pacing around, Alene and Ford were on their flight to surprise Luke at his show in her hometown and then join him on his tour. See, when Luke first started tour, he asked her to join but she denied because she had work to do. Yes, she worked and went to an empty cold house while Luke was having fun every night. But after every show, Luke would head straight to his bus, shower and call her and they would stay on the phone for hours on end until one of them fell asleep first. But finally, her boss was kind enough to just let her take a vacation leave and to go join Luke for the rest of tour.

Luke never figured out what he wanted to find out, so he gave up and went out to go eat lunch with the band but someone was missing.... "Who is missing?" Luke thought to himself as he started saying all the names in his head.
"...Carter.....Kevin.....Kent.... James.....Dallas.... VM.... And BM... Wait, Black Mike is not here, where is he?" Then a shout of his name by Carter snapped him out of his thoughts "Let's go!" "Comin'!" Luke shouted back and headed inside the diner.

Black Mike was at the airport picking up Alene and Ford from the airport, exactly why they decided to have lunch then to get Luke occupied while BM left. Everyone knew she was coming except Luke, himself. Everyone was really quiet about it and they all knew about what Luke wanted to figure out but they just never told him, wanting for him to find out himself. While everyone was out eating, BM gave Alene her two All Access passes and took her over to the stadium to settle her luggage in the bands bus and keeping Ford there before they made their way to have lunch themselves before surprising Luke at his show.

After lunch, everyone came back to the stadium and Luke was noticing something, everyone was acting a bit different like they were keeping a secret from him. He asked and everyone would just say "No, there is no secret, everything is fine" but he was not buying it. He then decided to just lay it off and take a walk into the woods trail that was behind the stadium. Walking around into the woods, he came across a lake. He stood there for a while, taking in the place then it suddenly hit him. It all came to him like it just happened yesterday...

~FlashBack~
Caroline's birthday, canceling the rest of sound check so I can surprise her. Cake and flowers. Walking into the bus silently. Hearing Caroline screaming out that man's name....
Remembering that, Luke shut his eyes tight and shaking his head as his hands turned into fists....
Slamming into the door. Caroline cheating on me with some guy. "What the Fuck Caroline!!" I yelled. First thing, grabbing the guy and start beating him, Caroline screaming in the back for me to stop, then noticing it was no use, she cheated on me. "Caroline get the fuck out of here, and I swear, If I see you again, it will not be pretty." I said. "But... but Luke I love you!" she said at the verge of tears "Caroline I loved you! Just leave, please" I said. "Loved?" Caroline asked as a tear went down her cheek. "Yes, Loved" I said bitterly, not being able to stand there much longer in front of my naked now ex and her side, I stormed out into the woods running into a soaking wet and dirty golden retriever that I soon learned his name as Ford who was asking for me to follow, after what seemed forever, I ran into a lake and there I spotted someone drowning. Jumping in, saving the girl and pulling her out to safety, sitting on a near by bench is when I first took in her beautiful features. Then her snuggling inside me is what caught my heart. Her jumping at my chuckle and when she first spoke was like angles singing in my ears, "Sorry!" She said frighten a bit, "It's okay, Darlin'" I softly laughed and that's when the small paused came and she soon said "I'm Alene..." And when she smiled, it took my breath away.....
