MAYA
It's been two weeks and we were back home. I practically forced this coversation out of Riley. I needed answers. I knew She still had feelings for Lucas. She tried going on a date with Charlie, that didn't work. She tried dating Zay and some guy named Evan, they didn't work out either.
"Look, Riles. You like Lucas and I like him too. You kissed on a subway and we-" Oops! I almost spilled to Riley.
"You what?" she worried.
"We talked for hours at the campfire," I lied. Technically I didn't lie, that really did happen. But, that's not all that happened.
"What do we do?"
"Well, we know that one of us makes his little cowboy heart go clippity clop." I said, "And it's you." And it's me, I thought.
"Maya, you care about Lucas and he cares about you too," she said.
"But, we're just friends. We know it's you he likes."
Riley smiled and looked down at her lap. I should be the one smiling.
FARKLE
"Lucas we need some answers and we need them now," I said to Lucas.
Lucas, Zay, and I were at Topanga's. Lucas had two girls that like him, and he liked them "both". He just doesn't know which girl he really has feelings for, and which one of them is just a best friend. God Lucas, pick Maya so I can have Riley, I thought to myself.
"Jellybeans! If you won't figure this out, than we will!" Zay said.
We walked over to a scale on the counter and Zay took out purple and yellow jellybeans.
"Name things that you like about the girls, and which ever one has the most, is the one you like as a girlfriend."
I couldn't believe it, but Zay had a really good idea. We could finally put this triangle out of its misery.
"Riley's pretty, goofy, lovable, loyal, and was my first kiss. She was the first one to be my friend." Lucas said.
Zay added six purple jellybeans to Riley's side of the scale.
"Maya's dark, mysterious, funny, pretty, honest, and I could have a serious conversation for hours. The kiss we shared at the campfire in Texas was great too." Lucas confessed.
"You kissed both girls?!" Zay said, adding seven yellow jellybeans to Maya's side of the scale.
"Final thoughts before we declare who you should be with?" I ask.
"Riley convinced me to ride Tombstone, gaining my confidence back. Also, how is it a coincidence that she fell into my lap on the subway?"
Zay added two purple jellybeans to Riley's side of the scale.
"Maya showed she cared for me because she didn't want me to ride the bull," Lucas pleaded.
Zay added one final yellow jellybean to Maya's side of the scale.
"It's a tie..." I said.
Just then, Maya walked through the door of Topanga's, by herself. Zay jumped up and hid the jellybeans.
"Lucas, I need to talk to you..."
