THIRD PERSON

Plenty of time has gone by, today is their last day at the ski lodge. All has gone great besides the little rough patch from the beginning of the trip. Lucas and Maya still don't have a label and Riley and Farkle are still madly in love. Today, the nature groups present what they have learned about the importance of the Mount Sun Lodge and it's history.

Riley, Maya, Farkle, Lucas, and Zay did amazing on their presentation. Then, Mr.Matthews hit them with a bonus question that could earn them extra credit. While you were here, what have you learned about people changing people?

Riley went first, then Farkle, then Zay, then Lucas, and lastly Maya.

"Obviously, the secret of life is people change people. There are many types of people in this world. When different types of people meet, they slowly begin to change each other. Whether, it's for the better or for the worse, people are gonna change. That's just life." Riley said.

"A big part of life is growing up. When we grow up we meet new people. Those people become even closer to us. As we learn each other's strengths, flaws, and weaknesses, we begin to help each other. We depend on others a lot more when we grow up. We depend on them for advice or just their company. We change, people change. Secret of life." Farkle concluded.

"I know people change people. I see it everyday. In any situation there are two options. The good decision and the wrong decision. We hope that we hang around the right people that influence our decisions." Zay informs.

"The people you hang out with don't define you. It's when they begin to influence your actions that's what defines you. Make bad decisions one day and make good ones the next shows a change in you. The people you hang out with can change you. Always choose the right people." Lucas explains.

All eyes were on Maya, everyone was waiting for her to give her response. She looked at everyone in the room.

"Maya? Are you gonna answer the question?" Mr.Matthews asked.

"I don't need to. My group defined it already. It's just extra credit..." she says.

"That's what they learned on this trip. Stop hiding out in my class Maya. I know you know the answer."

"Fine. You wanna know what I learned?" Maya says, gesturing towards everyone in the room, "There is more to the secret of life than just people change people. My nature group said it already, we influence each other's actions and decisions. What if I see it differently? One day, years ago, I met this little brunette girl. I climbed through her window. I was trying to escape what was going on at home. I began to see this little girl everyday and she made me happy. Her name was Riley Matthews. She's a goofy ball of sunshine and rainbows. She had what I hoped for. She had a family meal around the dinner table every night, meanwhile I stayed awake at night wondering if my dad was ever going to come back home. He never did. The little brunette girl and her family took me in like I was apart of hers. The more time I spent with them, the less angry and sad I became. I was and still am very grateful for that. As I grew up, I made friends with a Farkle, a cowboy, and a cookie monster. My friends became my family and they walk through life with me. There is something deeper to people change people. There are people who have so much, people have so little, and people who have less than the people with only a little. These people all have one common power, coming together, helping each other out, and changing each other's lives. Yes people change people, but I call it what us does for them."

Maya turns to look at her friends (who are standing right next to her), "In life, if you are lucky enough to find an amazing group of friends, never let them go. Within that group of friends, you create an extraordinary relationship. You guys are my extraordinary relationship. And that's what I learned."

The entire class starts clapping. Riley's in tears and the guys are smiling.

"Great work everyone, you all get an A+, especially you Maya," Mr.Matthews smiles.

Maya is an amazing motivational speaker! That's the end of the ski lodge guys and I think I did great, if I do say so myself.

Did you like it? Let me know!
