-Monica Thompson's POV-

"Quiet everyone, it is time that we introduce these seven leaders from our two ally packs, and introduce them to us." Alpha Kent said standing up on the stage, everyone quieted down and looked to the stage to see seven men standing up there including Alpha Kent. I scan over the seven newcomers, I could visibly tell who was alpha, beta, and delta. Only there was a seventh man standing next to the alpha of Yellow Star Pack. I looked closer, he was already looking at me.

Oh shit

I took a step back and he took a step forward while raising his right hand slightly. His eyes met mine and he looked to be pleading, pleading with me because he knew I was going to run just by the single step back I had taken. And I was going to run, well originally I was going to, but now I'm going to stay only because I have respect for my pack and for the representers of the other packs. I place my foot back where I originally stood and saw him visibly relax even though he didn't take his eyes off of me.

"And Alpha Morthals' son, Young Alpha Dean of the Yellow Star Pack." Alpha Kent finished introducing the members from the other packs, "Together we form The Companions."

Shortly after that we dispersed to go back to whatever we had been doing before, but now I would be leaving. I pushed my way through the crowd and in the process probably repeated 'Excuse me' seventy times. Soon after I began my march to the house I heard 'Excuse me's' coming from behind me in a voice as smooth as honey and as rich as chocolate. My footsteps halted only for moments then picked up again but that was enough time for my follower to get even closer to me. My guess was that it was my alpha mate so he could easily make it through the crowds.

"Wait!" I heard him shout but it only made me move faster, "Wait! Stop! Excuse me."

He had picked up his pace behind me and I could practically feel the air being compressed between us. Just then a hand landed on my shoulder pulling my retreat to a stop and spun me around. I came face to mouth with his blindingly white smile and tilted my head back to look into his swirling pools of blue for eyes.

"We haven't even talked yet and your mad at me." He said still smiling as if it was a joke. His voice snapped me out of my trance and I fell into a squat and spun away, in the process smacking his hands away from me.

"Wait, stop. Where are you going?" He asked me.

"Home." I told him shortly then finished my turn away from him and started my walk across the grass again. He grabbed me by the elbow this time and I tore my arm away from him and not even turning to look at him spit my next words at him, "Don't touch me."

"Stop trying to run away from me and I won't have to." Was his reply.

"No, I will not stop walking away from you. I don't want to talk to you, I want to go home." I told him then walked again.

"Then let me walk you home." He said.

"No, I don't want you to." I told him and kept walking.

He caught up next to me, "But I want to."

I stopped and turned on my heel to look at him, "Look, Dean, I want you to go away so I can go home. I don't want to talk to you, you're the alpha and I know how this turns out but I want to do it first so let's get this over with." I paused to take a breath then look him in the eyes because it means nothing without eye contact, "I, Monica Thompson, reject you, Dean Matthews."

"Your name is Monica?" He asked me a if I hadn't just said it, but either way, him saying it sent a shiver down my spine.

"Don't say my name. Accept the stupid rejections, Alpha." I said and folded my arms over my chest.
