-Monica Thompson's POV-

"Hi, can I just get everything out of Ms. Elum's box?" I say to the school receptionist politely. She politely nods at me then stands from her desk, bringing me the stack of papers.

"There is one more thing I must get from the back." She told me with a smile, I gave a small nod to show I acknowledged what she said. As I waited I shuffled the papers and envelopes in my hand to order from smallest on top to largest on bottom.

The office door opened and closed though I didn't pay it much attention as one of the student office aids struck up a conversation with me as she tweezed her eyebrows.

"Did you know that using a hand held mirror when tweezing eyebrows will give you a better result?" She told me and tweezed away at her face.

"Or maybe it just depends on how much time you spend on plucking your eyebrows." I replied.

"We tweeze eyebrows and pluck chickens. It's important to get it right." She said again, not looking away from her mirror.

The second receptionist looked to the newcomer and asked what she could help him with.

"Hi, I just need my new schedule. I enrolled here over the weekend." He said in a deep, rumbling voice.

I know that voice.

And with that I twirled around to find myself looking into Dean's face.

"Name?" The receptionist asked him while typing away at her keyboard.

"Dean Matthews." He replied, not looking away from my face as a smile crept up on his face.

Behind me the office aid girl was going on about something to do with face moisturizer and how if you put it on your legs after you shave it won't give you razor burn.

"What are you doing here?" I asked him.

He chuckled, "I'm getting an education."

"You're already graduated. There's no reason for you to be here." I told him and spun back around to see if the first receptionist was coming back yet.

"Well, well, well, has somebody been asking around about me?" He said with a teasing smirk and leaned against one of the odd desk-like counters in the office.

Where is that receptionist?

"No, word travels through the grapevine." I replied, still not looking at him.

Just then both receptionists came towards us. The second one stood from her desk with a small slip of paper and the first came out from the back room with a box in hand.

They both started talking at the same time but to us individually, "Alrighty! Here's the last of Ms. Elum's things."

She then handed me the box with a kind smile and walked back to sit at her bedazzled desk.

"Thank you." I said and began to walk out of the office when the second receptionist called me back.

"Oh, Monica, you have homeroom with Ms. Elum, correct?" She asked.

I gave her a nod to confirm what she already knew.

"Will you show Mr. Matthews here, to her room then take him on a tour of the school?"

"Yes, of course." I said with a tight lipped smile, "Follow me, Mr. Matthews."

I walked out of the office, fuming, knowing he would follow me.

"You know you can just call me Dean, right?"

"Yes I know." I told him and kept walking.

"Why are you so angry? What's wrong?" He asked speeding up to walk next to me.

I spun to face him and pointed my finger, "Your what's wrong! Your not suppose to be here. You were suppose to go back to your territory and you were suppose to leave me alone."

Hurt flashed in his eyes for only a moment then it was replaced by a small smile and a glint in his eye.

"The fact that your so defensive about me being here only goes to show that you care about what I do." He said.

In response I gave a short frustrated sigh and mumbled, "This is pointless."

"I can still hear you." He said triumphantly.

"I know you can still hear me Dean. Lets get to class." I told him and walked further down the hall.

"Going to class won't make me go away." He told me, falling into step beside me.

We stopped just outside the classroom and I turned to him, "Then what will?"

"Nothing", He said looking into my eyes suddenly very serious, "I'm never going away. I'm never going to leave you, Monica Thompson."

My breath hitched momentarily at his words. I cleared my throat and turned away, "This is Ms. Elum's classroom, c'mon."

"Oh, you're back! Oh and there's the box." She said talking the box and envelopes from me, "Oh, and there's a new student with you!"

I just nodded at the small irish woman with a kind smile on my face. Dean and Ms. Elum did their introductions, she didn't make him stand in front of the class and introduce himself like some teachers do. Just when she was about to go back to her desk I approached her.

"Excuse me, Ms. Elum, I have some work that I was hoping to finish during this class period is there someone else that could take Dean around to school for the rest of the period?" I asked her.

"Oh, of course. Um, let's see.." She said glancing around the room in thought.

"Actually, Monica is the only person I know here and I'd be more comfortable with a friendly face." Dean interrupted.

I turned and gave him a stern look, smile still in place, "Well this would be a good opportunity to meet someone new then you will be more comfortable with the people here, not only knowing me."

He opened his mouth to say more but was cut off by Ms. Elum.

"Oh, we don't want Dean here to be uncomfortable with his new school. Go on and take him around Monica." She said patting my shoulder lightly.

"Alright, let's go Dean." I said and turned on my heel.

"C'mon you know we didn't want him to go." The voice in my head said.

"God, just shut up." I retorted then walked, as best I could without stomping like a child, out of the classroom.

A/N

I'm very sorry it took so long! I hope that it will suffice or the next couple of days or so I'm hoping to get another chapter up by the end of the week still need to figure out where to go with it. Any ideas? I will gladly take anything you guys suggest and run with it as best I can if it kinda follows the way I'm trying to go!

Okay so I was thinking about changing her age to seventeen because I feel like sixteen is really young. I would just go back and edit everything to correlate with the age of seventeen like in her birthday chapter I would just change it to seventeen it won't actually effect the whole plot or anything like that. Age is just a number! But I brought it up to ask if it would bother you guys if I did? Cause if it will I won't change it, it doesn't really hurt the story so just let me know!

In my opinion this was a pretty long note so, just let me know about chapter ideas and the age change!
