Part 19

‘None of your business, Jenny.’ Niall replies and for a moment I feel relieved. ‘I really don’t know what’s wrong with you, Niall. You dumped me, there has to be something seriously wrong.’ I hear her say with a tone I can’t tolerate.

‘Yeah, wrong that I didn’t do that earlier.’ I’m laughing to myself, way to go Niall! I love how he fired back at her. I saw her face when he said that and it was priceless.

I hear her stutter, struggling with words and she doesn’t have an answer ready. ‘I still don’t get why you hang out with her. She isn’t our kind, she is different. She.. ‘ She’s cut of midsentence.

‘Shut up, Jenny and don’t talk about her that way. She’s different yeah, we all are. That makes us the same. I don’t judge her. In fact, she is one of the most wonderful people I have ever met.’

Wow.. Does he really mean that? Why? I have been acting so harsh in the beginning and.. well let’s just say I don’t get it. But I have to admit, I love hearing him say that.

I’m brought back to reality by Jenny’s voice. ‘Come on, Niall. Give us a second chance. You know that kissing Daniel didn’t mean anything..’ ‘Then why did you do it?’

Oh no.. She is changing his mind. Please Niall, don’t fall for it, please. ‘Never mind, don’t answer that, I don’t even want to know. That chapter of my life is over now. I started a new one. You should do the same.’ He states.

A new chapter? Is he talking about me? I feel happy with all butterflies in my stomach, yet at the same time, I feel terrified. I don’t do relationships and love.

It just gets you hurt and I’m not up for that. The walls build around my heart are too strong. Walls that can’t be taken down.

‘You fell for me once, Horan! You will again!’ she shouts after him. ‘I doubt that.’ Is all he replies and I hear him getting closer. Shit, I have to get out of here or he’ll know that I had been listening.

But I’m too late. As I try to walk backwards I bump into someone and we both hit the floor. ‘I’m sorry, I didn’t see you.’ I start to apologize. ‘Wait, Emma? You’re here? You’re okay! Wait what happened to your eye?’ I ask her lots of questions, I’m just so surprised to see her.

She went along with Daniel and the rest and since I didn’t see them today in the hall, I assumed they all got arrested. And I almost forgot Niall until I heard his voice.

‘Megan? How long have you been here? Are you okay?’ As I look up at him, he holds out his hand to help me get up. He’s blushing, probably because he know I overheard.

I help Emma up too and give her and questioning look. I need to know what happened and where the hell everybody is. I may not be in there group anymore but in a way I still care about them. ‘I.. I have to go. I’ll talk to you later!’ She says and quickly walks away.

‘Emma! Wait!’ I sigh and turn towards Niall. I instantly blush. ‘Did you..?’ He starts. ‘Yes, I did. Was it true?’ I ask shyly. He nods and I don’t really know what to say. Should I let him break down the walls around my heart? Let down the shield I have had around me for years?
