Part 34

Even though I’m only 10 minutes away from home, the walk feels like hours. Niall said to not feel guilty but I can’t. I feel so guilty. I’m the reason of this big hole in his life. His dad seemed such an important part of his life and he really looked up to him. The way he speaks of him, the way his eyes light when he talks about his dad..  The more I think about it, the more guilty I get. I don’t know how but I need to make it up to him one way or another.

‘Megan! Megan wait!’ I hear someone calling my name. God please no, I don’t want to see him again. But when I turn around there he is. ‘Daniel, leave me alone!’ I yell but he grabs my wrists and turns me around so I’m facing him.

‘We need to talk. Join us again. You know we have lots of jobs and you’ll have the money in no time.’ ‘I don’t need your help.’ He looks at me, surprised at first but starts to smile. The smile I don’t like, the cheeky smile that’s up for no good.

‘Ohh so your boyfriend is going to help? Did you ask him? When will you dump him?’ ‘Shut up, he’s not my boyfriend and no I didn’t ask him. I don’t need his money and I can’t dump him, I’m not dating him.’ I defend myself. ‘You sure spend a lot of time with him.’ I raise my eyebrow at him. How does he know that?

‘How do you know that?’ His smile grows. ‘So it’s true? I didn’t believe it at first but now that you confirmed it.’ ‘How do you know?’ I ask again. ‘Stephanie told me. And then Emma again. But I never thought you would fall for someone like him.’

‘Someone like him? You’re saying that as if it is a bad thing.’ ‘It is, he’s not right for you, he’s not your type. But I guess you just confirmed that you fell for him.’ ‘No, I didn’t. He’s just a friend.’ I lie.

‘He better stay just a friend. You’re mine.’ He says while he pulls me closer but I push him away. ‘I’m not yours. Bye Daniel and don’t even try to follow me.’ I’m surprised that he listen but I’m glad he didn’t came after me.

I’m so furious at Emma and Stephanie. Since I probably won’t see the first some time soon, I’ll freak out at the second one. ‘Maddie! Stephanie!’ I yell while I slam the door shut. They both appear from out of the living room, giving me a confused look.

‘What did you tell your brother?’ I ask, looking at Stephanie. ‘Nothing.. I..’ she begins but I cut her off. ‘Don’t even dare to lie at me, he told me you told him I was at Niall’s place.’ ‘I’m sorry, I didn’t think it was a big deal and he asked where you were..’ ‘He doesn’t need to know where I am.’ I snap.

‘I’m sorry..’ she says again but I ignore her and walk to my room. It wasn’t that big of a deal, I just don’t want anyone to know that I spent a lot of time with Niall. I’m  a girl with troubles. And if everyone knew about Niall, trouble would find him too.
