You were still lying alongside of this killer, your brain constantly forming questions to ask. Constantly reminding you of the fact that you needed answers, that you needed to do something about this pulsing headache which was caused by a fair amount of confusion.
Each time another question rose to the brink of your thoughts, ready to move on towards your vocal cords and be spoken aloud. But every single one of them seemed to disappear on the trail. Like they couldn't be spoken. Like they didn't want to be spoken.
AS if every question you thought of wasn't the right one. They weren't the questions you had to ask him right now. But which would be?
Jeff's breathing was regular now, his grip on your pulse still present but his thumb stopped caressing it. However you could feel his grip tightening from time to time, as if he too was thinking. As if he had casted aside his impulsive, rough and unrefined nature for a while to actually think about things.
You couldn't know for sure, but it seemed like it.
His eyes slid over the ceiling, tracing imaginary lines and warning you that he was still awake. And somehow you knew he wouldn't get sleep anytime soon. Just like you.
Being plagued by irrational, weird and confusion thoughts as you could only obey Jeff and keep lying there. You had no idea how many minutes or even hours had passed but it felt like an eternity. The feeling you got when you were in limbo.
As if everything around you had stopped, as if the rules of time only applied to you two.
Your wounds had stopped bleeding, the little amount of bilirubin just enough to close off the wound with a darker shaded crust. You still had no clue what caused his sudden change in behavior, what caused him to be lying here next to you without sleeping or assaulting you.
What had caused him to be so...
So...
Different.
Without moving your head too far you glanced at the killer. When looking at him something inside of you was boiling. A flash of everything he had done, of every tear you had shed, of every loved one who had died thanks to him washed over you.
You resented him, you were furious at him. You felt disgust and utter hatred for the guy thanks to everything he had done. Your brain paired him with your worst nightmares, with everything you despised, with all you had hated before but then ten times worse.
This hate was fueled by fear. Fear of what he was going to do, fear of what he was capable of. Fear of his power, of his unnatural strength which was not human. Fear of his capabilities and above all... Fear of his insane and unpredictable mind.
Another thing which caused your fear was confusion. Confusion over what exactly was going on. Confusion over this whole ordeal, what you have been through and confusion towards Jeff.
Confusion... Because you didn't know how you were supposed to feel.
However looking at Jeff also gave you a positive feeling.
Determination, willpower. The determination to get out of here. The determination to get at least Rayne out alive and others if they still live. The determination to not get broken anymore by Jeff. The determination and willpower to survive.
The only thing keeping you standing and breathing. The natural and primeval response to any danger coming into a person's life.
Then there was something else. Something very vague, deep and almost not worth feeling. You didn't know what it was, how you could describe it. Was it positive? You weren't certain. Was it negative? You didn't know. All you knew was that it is there and that it sometimes, on very rare occasions, mixes with another feeling.
